SCHOOL OF POSSIBILITIES

Year 10 2025 Re-enrolment Interviews

Families of students in Year 10 in 2025 are asked to please ensure they book their re-enrolment interview as soon as possible. In this meeting, families receive important about uniform, booklists, compulsory school events and expectations for behaviour and work habits that support learning. VCE fast-track interviews also occur during this time. Instructions on how to book your interview have been emailed to Year 9 families.

Year 10 Formal Practise

With the Year 10 Formal fast approaching, the students have been busily preparing by practising their dances. We hope you enjoy these photos taken by our talented learning mentor Chelsea during dance rehearsals this week!

Welcome Karolina!!

St Anne's is again fortunate to be able to host an exchange student and recently welcomed Karolina to our Year 10 cohort! Carolina has travelled from Slovakia and will attend St Anne's College for 12 months.

We have been very impressed with how well Karolina has adapted to her new school routine. Karolina enjoys a range of extracurricular activities back home, including sailing. Choosing electives was a new experience for her as she had a set curriculum at her school in Slovakia. We look forward to sharing an interview with Karolina in the next edition of il Giornale. In the meantime, please say hi if you see Karolina around.

Change to SOP structure in 2025

Last week we were very excited to announce that Year 9 will move into the School of Possibilities in 2025. We will continue to share updates on this change.

Learning Conversations

Bookings for learning conversations are now open. We encourage families to make an appointment to speak to learning mentors about student achievement and progress via PAM. Please be reminded, these conversations are most beneficial when students are also present.

Important dates for our Year 12 students - VTAC

End of Year 12 program

Communication will go out to all Year 12 parents/carers on Monday regarding the end of year program for our students, including end of classes, revision periods, celebratory events.

Year 12 Physical Education

The Year 12 PE students have continued their sessions at Aquamoves and this week their training method focus area was Resistance/Weight Training. With Scotty's guidance students were able to work through different exercise equipment. Students could work at their own pace and ability levels throughout the session. A huge thanks to Scotty and Aquamoves for the opportunity to engage in many terrific training methods throughout the term. Students will now complete their reflective portfolio in class next week.

Year 11 Health and Human Development

Year 11 Health and Human Development students are now in charge of taking care of the new St Anne's College baby Tessa.

Students Bridie and Amali are pictured here with baby Tessa.

Bridie is the first student to take home baby Tessa for two days and one night. Bridie and the other students are very excited but also a little nervous about what is to come with Tessa. We wish all the students well with the fun interactive experience throughout the next few weeks.

Year 10 - Book Week Artwork

The Year 10 students, lead by two-time Mary Mackillop Art Competition winner Rhiannon Almond, completed a beautiful artwork to commemorate Book Week recently. Rhiannon came up with the design which focused on the theme 'Reading is Magic'. Congratulations to Rhiannon and her helpers for doing such a fantastic job on the artwork!

Year 10 Italian

𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐥í𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐨!

Our 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝟭𝟬 𝗜𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 students have been focusing on the Disney movie 𝘓𝘶𝘤𝘢, and exploring several cultural and language concepts from the film. Today they made 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦 𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘰, the pasta dish featured in the movie.

Students were required to follow the step-by-step process of the ricetta (𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘐𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘯) and will use this experience to create their own video recipe to form part of their major speaking assessment.

They made a gluten free and regular pasta option and both dished were a huge success.

𝒞𝒽𝑒 𝒹𝑒𝓁𝒾𝓏𝒾𝑜𝓈𝑜!

If you'd like to try out the recipe you'll find it below.

Cultivating culinary excellence through VCE VM VET Cookery

Rylan
Rylan

Year 11 student Rylan has had a fantastic first year in his VET Cookery course that he is studying at GOTAFE as part of his VCE-VM program here at the college. He recently won the Murray River Culinary Challenge Regional Final on Wednesday 7 August, with a fellow classmate.

Rylan will now represent St Anne's College in the Grand Final at Echuca College on Monday 9 September.

Rylan and his challenge buddy Brodie worked very well together, demonstrated fantastic communication skills and supported each other to create two portions of pork medallions and orange sauce with roasted sweet potato and sauteed spinach followed by sticky date pudding with butterscotch sauce within a two-hour time frame. They scored 80 from a possible 85 points.

Rylan will begin training with his GOTAFE teacher on Wednesdays from 14 August during class time to refine his culinary skills for the upcoming Grand Final menu.

St Anne's College and GOTAFE are both very proud of what Rylan has achieved thus far and wish them every success with the Grand Final.

For any students who are interested in applying for a VET program in 2025, please make an appointment to see Belinda or Naomi in careers ASAP as expressions of interest are now open and close on Friday 31 August, 2024.

Year 12 Elevate Study Session

The Year 12 students heard from Darius at Elevate who presented two sessions to assist them to prepare with their upcoming exams. The sessions covered two topics - 'Memory and Mnemonics' and 'The Finishing Line' - which were aimed at giving the students tools and tips to push right through to the end of the exam period.

It has been fantastic seeing our first cohort of Year 12 students getting prepared for their upcoming exam period and we wish them all the very best for this exciting and challenging time in their schooling journey.
