Year 6

Media Incursion

This week, the students took part in a very engaging and entertaining incursion relating to our Inquiry topic on the media. The students learned about the aspects of the news, how reports and articles are created and ended up creating their own filmed news report based on their current affair of choice.

Production

On Wednesday, the Grade 6 students had their first full dress rehearsal in the stadium. The performance was watched by students from Prep to Grade 2 and it was greatly enjoyed by all. It was wonderful to see all the hard work that has been put in finally come to fruition and they are extremely excited for the big night on Wednesday 17th of September. A reminder that on Tuesday 16th of September students will be travelling to the Crossways Centre for their tech rehearsal.

Mathematics

This week, the students were set the challenge of creating a zoo that included enclosures of varying shapes and a strict set of parameters that they had to follow in terms of the shapes that must be included, and requirements for the areas and perimeters. The students have done an amazing job learning and applying the formula for less common shapes and making sure all working out was evident.

Last Day of School

A reminder that the last day of school for Term 3 will be Thursday 18th of September. The students will be dismissed at the normal time of 3.30pm. On Friday the staff have a Curriculum Day and students are not to attend on that day. The Grade 6 staff would like to take this moment to hope everyone has a wonderful and relaxing two week holiday  and we look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday 6th of October for their final term at VPS!
