Year 5

Production

Only a couple of nights away from production! All of the Year 5 students have put in a mountain of effort to be ready and we cannot wait for it all to come together on Tuesday night. We'd like to thank all parents for supporting the students in organising the basis of the costumes needed for the night. Our Tech rehearsal is on Tuesday during the day, with the actual production beginning at 7pm that night. 

Last day of Term (Thursday 18th September) - finish time will be 3:30pm.

Learning in the classroom:

Science

This term, students have been exploring the difference between physical and chemical changes. This culminated in an experiment, with students given a bag of mystery powder (this was made up of 3 of these powders: flour, salt, sugar and bi-carb soda). They conducted experiments using water, vinegar, heat and iodine to try and identify what powders where in the bag. Students had a wonderful time conducting experiments and identifying what chemical changes they observed. 

Maths

Students were asked to plan a day trip to Melbourne CBD, beginning and ending at Vermont Primary School. They had to visit 10 attractions in the city, converting between 12 and 24 hour time, noting down the amount of time they spent there and how long it took them to get from one place to another. 

5/6 Summer Sport

The Year 5's have had a great time participating in Summer Sport the past two Friday's. They showed great determination and sportsmanship over both days, with lovely weather to go with it, making it a great experience.

Grade 5 Tech Rehearsal at the Crossways Centre Tuesday 16th of September.

Production Night Tuesday 16th of September

Last Day of School Thursday 18th of September (3.30pm dismissal).

First Day of Term 4 Monday 6th of October.
