This term has been filled with exciting events, including the production, our human body incursion, and Book Week. The students have loved taking part in these activities, and we thank all parents for their support. Wishing everyone a safe and restful holiday.
Production
Our school production is getting closer, and Year 4 students have been working hard to create a wonderful performance. Thank you to all families for supporting the students and helping with their costumes. On Wednesday, we had our dress rehearsal, and the students did an excellent job. We look forward to seeing many families at the performance on Wednesday, 16th September.
Father’s Day Lunch
Last Monday, we celebrated Father’s Day with a special lunch. It was lovely to see so many families join us. The students enjoyed sharing a meal with their dads, grandfathers, and special friends. Here are a couple of photos from the day:
What’s Happening in the Classroom
Literacy
We have been reading a text about the International Space Station. Students wrote short stories set in space and explored the features of science fiction. Here is an example from Sven in 4VN:
The door opens. At last, they finally made it to the Moon. Suddenly, Trudy noticed something strange, it looked like a train made out of scraps. Glenn looked over to Trudy and saw what she was staring at. They approached with caution. They stepped inside and the doors closed behind them.
"Welcome aboard to the Moon Train. First stop is Moon City," said a voice over the speaker.
In no time, they found themselves in a giant city with hundreds of buildings and astronauts.
Writing
Students have been brainstorming ideas and drafting their own creative stories. Once their drafts are complete, they will edit their writing using the 7+ Writing Traits.
Mathematics
We have been learning about decimals, focusing on tenths and hundredths. Now we are moving on to money, where students will be applying their knowledge of decimals to real-life situations.
Inquiry
Over the coming weeks, students will choose a system to research. They will have the opportunity to create a project to showcase their learning and understanding of how their chosen system works.
