From the Principal

As we embark on the final week of a busy term 3, I hope all students reflect on their learning and feel proud of their achievements. I thank Bron Orr and Michelle Di Giovanni for leading the school while I took some long service leave to travel to Timor Leste and Bali. I hope that all families have some time to rest and recharge these school holidays, ready for what will be a busy term 4.

Staff News

Many families will know that Adele Cuff is in her final weeks of work before she embarks on parental leave. I want to thank Adele for her many years of service as a classroom teacher and also as a leader of our school. Adele’s passion and drive in the area of student engagement and wellbeing will be missed as well as her bright personality. I wish her and Ryan all the best as they move into the next phase of their lives - parenthood! Niamh Kent will be 5/6C’s teacher next term. She has worked regularly at our school as a casual replacement teacher and has been working with Adele this week as part of the handover process.

Our school counsellor Riva Dhingra is also leaving us early next term. Her main school Auburn High has offered Riva full time employment which she has taken. Riva has been an integral part of our wellbeing program at Oakleigh, assisting a number of families and teachers in her role. We wish her all the best!

150 Birthday Celebration

It’s not long now to our 150th birthday celebration! Do you know of any former students and families who attended Oakleigh PS? If so, let them know about the event.

Thank you to Harcourts Real Estate and Baker’s Delight Oakleigh for partnering with us for this event.

As we embark on final preparations, we will be asking some families to help out on the day. Please look out for this communication soon!

2026 Planning

The school is underway for planning the 2026 school year.

If you are planning on moving interstate, to another country or away from Oakleigh and are yet to notify the office, please do so as soon as possible, preferably by Friday October 17.  Numbers have a significant bearing on our planning, grade composition and staffing and we appreciate early notification where possible.

If you hear of anyone wishing to attend Oakleigh in 2026, please send them to the office to enrol. If you have not enrolled any younger siblings, please do so as quickly as possible so that they can attend our kinder to school transition program.

If you have any further questions, please contact the school office.

This day is celebrated on 3 September.
