Dear Families,
As the end of the term is here, I reflect on what a busy term it has been with many wonderful opportunities available for our students and families. Students have had the opportunity to shine on stage, participate in sporting events, celebrate community events such as Grandparents/Special Friends Day and Fathers/VIP day, fundraising initiatives, child safety activities and plenty of dress up celebration days.
Excellence and Equity
Megan and myself attended two days of professional learning at the MACS Flourishing Learners Conference. The theme of the conference was Equity and Excellence, reinforcing the importance that every student should be known, engaged and growing guided by excellence in teaching and equity in opportunity. I was particularly inspired by Prof. Br David Hall FMS who spoke about education for a new humanity and how Catholic education can provide an obvious gift which is spirituality. If we say that we educate the whole person, then we can’t ignore the spiritual dimension. We need to anchor our students in faith, hope and love. He explored the importance of a life well lived in a world worth living in - how are we all contributing to this?

St Joseph's Community Footy Tipping Comp
Congratulations to the Nash Family for winning the community footy tipping competition which concluded at the end of the home and away games. Well done to Hinkley's Hot Tips and Isabella's Blues who were very close behind.
Footy Colours Day
This Friday students are invited to wear their teams colours. If they don't follow AFL, students are invited to wear any sporting team colours. The SWAT Team have organised hot dogs for Fun Food Fridays. Orders and money.need to be in on Wednesday.
Fun Food Fridays will continue during Term Four. Followin is a sneak peek of the food and dates.
Before and After School Care
Their Care have decided to stop the before and after school care service at Sorrento Primary at the end of this term. We have been trying to find a solution for the families who utilise this service. We wanted to continue our relationship with Their Care so that our families can continue to use their holiday programs as well and for the remainder of the 2025 school year, students may attend Their care at Tootgarook Primary School. Students can be signed in by families in the morning before they will be signed out to catch the school bus to school. The reverse will take place in the afternoon. Other local options are being explored for 2026.
Year 3-6 Computer Incursion
ComputerXplorers, a fun and engaging local STEM education company, will be visiting St Joseph’s to run a special incursion on Friday for our Year 3–6 students. The session will focus on Game Design, giving students the chance to explore creativity, problem-solving, and technology in a hands-on and enjoyable way.
ComputerXplorers specialise in weekly one-hour after-school clubs as well as school holiday camps, bringing children opportunities to learn new digital skills while having fun in a supportive environment.
We’re looking forward to welcoming them into our school and giving our students the opportunity to learn, create, and be inspired!
School Fees
Just a reminder to please pay any outstanding fees for Term Three. If you have a Health Care card please contact the office. Please make an appointment to see me if there are any concerns.
Pilgrimage
At the end of last year, I applied to go on a pilgrimage as a part of the Jubilee Year celebrations. I was successful and will leave in the school holidays to visit Rome, Assisi and Loretto. I will be visiting many holy and sacred sights and will have an audience with Pope Leo. If any one has any prayer intentions that they would like me to carry to these sights, please leave them in the box in the office area.
