This year, we are excited to celebrate two beautiful cultural festivals together: the Chinese Moon Festival and Diwali, the Indian Festival of Lights. Though rooted in different traditions, both festivals honour the moon, light, family, and the power of coming together as a community.
Our celebration, themed "Under the Same Moon, We Share the Light," will be a wonderful opportunity for students and families to learn about, appreciate, and celebrate the richness of our shared values through different cultures.
We invite all students to design and make their own lanterns using different colours, shapes, and materials. Be creative and try to use recycled or reused materials to help care for our planet! Your lantern will be part of a glowing display to celebrate the Moon Festival and Diwali.
Let your imagination shine bright!
Who can participate: Everyone is invited to take part in this DIY Lantern Challenge.
Where to submit your lantern: the School Hall.
When to hand in your lantern: Between 8:30am and 9:00am on Monday, 20 October (Week 2, Term 4).
Lantern Gallery Open Day
Our school community is invited to visit the Lantern Gallery and participate in a variety of cultural activities on Wednesday, 22 October from 2:30pm to 3:30pm in the School Hall.

Our talented students proudly represented Chatswood Public School at the Royal Thailand Embassy Open Day in Canberra. Proud and Nadia from Waratah 3, Yanika from Waratah 2, and Taylor from Sea 2 delighted dignitaries and the crowd with their music and dance performances throughout the day. These students, along with several other former Chatswood Public students, have been honoured to perform at this event every year for the past 10 years, showcasing their skills and celebrating cultural connections.
