It has been a busy start to the term for all P.E lessons. Some excellent weather mixed in with some crazy winds. The students have been very adaptable when we have had to move indoors.

This term sees the Junior School continuing to master their throwing, catching and striking skills through variety of individual and partner activities.

Middle School & Senior school are honing their striking skills through the sports of cricket, pickleball, tennis and table tennis.

Division & Regional Athletics

Earlier this term we had 15 students represent the school at the Casey South Division athletics carnival. Every student tried their best with lots achieving PBS in their respective events.

Congratulations to Maddix (800m & 1500m)  and Kobe (800m) who progressed to the Regional carnival.  They both ran their best against quality opposition. An exceptional achievement which showcases our distance running ability at C.S.P.S.

Regional Hoop Time

Over the past three weeks we have had three of our hoop time teams compete their respective Regional days.

Senior Future Stars - came up against some tough competition and were unlucky to miss out on a place in the semis finishing third in their pool.

Junior Future Stars - finished the round robins with 3 wins and 1 loss placing them 2nd in the pool. We started slow in the semi final but came back in the second half to get within 4 points of the eventual winners St Marys.

Senior All Stars - faced some very well drilled teams full of representative players. Tried their best all day and only lost by 3 to the team who progressed to the State carnival.

A massive thanks to our parents who coached, scored, transported and acted as cheerleaders. Days like this are not possible without the support of the families.

Student in the Spotlight

Congratulations to John C on his recent selection to the Basketball Victoria Program. John attended the Metro Jamboree which welcomes the top 60 boys within Victoria to play a round robin tournament in September, offering them their first taste of the Basketball Victoria high performance pathway with highly skilled coaches.

The same 60 boys also  participate in the

The Future Development Program.

Run once a week before school by Basketball Victoria, the program endeavours to further develop Technical, Tactical, Physical and Mental abilities - The four pillars of high performance.

What a great achievement John - we cant wait to continue to watch you follow your basketball dreams.

Foundation

Students have explored Digital Art through using Sketchpad and learning basic photography. Students practised using their finger on the screen as a drawing tool and getting their partner to guess their drawing. They took a selfie and learnt how to crop and markup their photo with fun colours and silly annotations. Students extended thier knowledge of technology through driving our Sphero robots through paint to create some colourful abstract art.

They also created some Goofy Pumpkins for Halloween testing their creativity and cutting skills.

Year 6 students have been working on their legacy project. They are painting a fence paling to be displayed between the senior school portables. Students are using colours and symbols that represent their personality and interests as well as inserting their name in a creative font. They have been challenged by the necessity for paint to be applied in layers and waiting for each layer to dry before adding the next takes patience and planning!

Social Wellbeing

To start the Term off, classes have been covering topics that linked to their visits with Healthy Harold and the Life Ed Program. The Foundations have been talking about the eat often foods, the Junior School have been talking about what it means to be a friend. The Year 3's have been learning all about our body systems and how they work together, while Year 4 have been discussing Resilience, Problem Solving respectfully and the importance of a good apology. Year 5 and 6 have been talking about Peer Pressure around drugs and alcohol and what qualifies as a drug.

This exciting week of visiting with Harold culminated in our Healthy Harold assembly, where select students shared their Health goals going forward, and all the students played a game of opposites with Harold.
