BROOKE FAUX
Here in Central Australia the bright blue veil of sky stretches as far as the eye can see. We gratefully welcome the cool season as it greets us with crispness and calmness.
Our local surroundings main lesson will focus on building deeper connections with Arrernte Country. “A Dreaming for Everything” is the theme of our lesson. It will involve stories of landforms, plants and animals originating from spots along the Western and Eastern Ranges, which will develop the students’ relationship to local country.
We will be heading out on a few excursions this semester to see some significant places in Mparntwe and along the Eastern Ranges to extend our learning from the classroom into country.
I wish you all a wonderful and healthy journey through the cooler season here in Mparntwe!
I’ll leave you with some reasons the children think Alice Springs is a beautiful place to live:
“Alice Springs is a beautiful place to live, it is so beautiful (obviously) and comparatively peaceful, I mean it’s not like a city with people and cars everywhere. It is so small that everything is maximum 15 minutes away.” Elliott
“Alice Springs is a beautiful place because I like exploring the bush.” Adi
“Alice Springs is a beautiful place to live because everywhere you go you see somebody you know.” Lucy
“Alice Springs is a beautiful place to live because of all the beautiful plants and the ranges.” Inyika
