A Day in Primary
Grade 5&6 SES Incursion and Boy Overboard
As part of our Integrated unit on Natural Disasters, the SES visited Christway College to discuss the various natural disasters that impact our community. Students actively participated in conversations about safety measures during these events. The session was both enjoyable and educational, providing valuable insights as we conclude this unit.

In Term 2 the Grade 6 students are reading a novel called Boy Overboard, it is about a boy named Jamal who is a refugee and the story is about his family's journey escaping Afghanistan.
On Monday the 29th of April, the Grade 6 classes had the pleasure of meeting our guest speaker, Ms Khaliqy. Ms Khaliqy shared her experience as an Afghan refugee and the challenges she and her family faced on their journey to Australia. She also spoke of what Afghanistan was like before and after the Taliban rule. Ms Khaliqy talked about women's rights and showed us a picture of a barque. Grade 6 enjoyed a wonderful incursion. It helped us understand the characters in the novel we are reading.
