Thoughts from Wellbeing
In light of the troubling statistics and ongoing challenges in Melbourne and across Australia, such as the alarming rate of violence against women and the surge in domestic violence cases, it has prompted deep reflection on the role of education, particularly within our school community. We are privileged to have the opportunity to educate and inform our students, not just academically, but also in values and beliefs.
At our school, we are fortunate to be able to discuss matters of faith and spirituality, including the concept of God's care for us and the belief that we are all God's children, regardless of our differences. This foundational belief serves as a cornerstone for fostering respect, empathy, and understanding among our students. By instilling these values early on, we hope to cultivate a generation that rejects misogyny and embraces mutual respect and dignity for all.
It is concerning that many young people look up to figures who exhibit disrespectful behaviour and a lack of regard for others. This highlights the urgent need for positive role models and strong moral guidance, which we strive to provide through our teachings and ethos. I find solace in knowing that I have a heavenly Father who embodies perfection, love, and forgiveness, and I believe that by following this example, we can create a more compassionate and respectful community here at Christway.
God Bless you all
