Principal's Report

Education Week

From Monday 13 to Friday 17 May Victorian schools will celebrate Education Week. The aim of the week is to celebrate all the great things that are happening in our schools. It gives parents, grandparents and extended family the opportunity to come into their child’s classroom and see them and the children at work.

This year's theme, Spotlight on STEM, highlights the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in our everyday lives, in the classroom and beyond.

All year levels will send out invitations to families inviting them to pop in for a visit throughout the week. We hope to see lots of you visiting your child’s classroom this week.

Safe Routes to School Program

As part of the Safe Routes to School program which we are currently implementing, every Tuesday this term we are encouraging all the children to participate in WOW Day. If children wheel or walk to school, they get a tally mark on their grade’s sheet.

At the end of the term the P-2 and 3-6 grades with the most children who have walked or wheeled to school will receive the Golden Boot for their classroom and a pizza lunch.

Also, as part of the Safe Routes to School program the council are installing decals on the footpaths near the school. The decals indicate a path that children could use to walk or wheel to school. If the children follow the decals, they should meet up with other children walking to school. I have included a map of the routes the council advises students use to get to school.

We understand that for some families the walk to school might be too long, however have you thought about parking your car along one of the routes and walking? Our aim is to cut the traffic congestion around the school and make it safe for everyone.

Student Leaders

Last week we started our 2025 Prep tours. As always, our grade 6 leaders have been an integral part of the process. This year they have been doing an outstanding job and the feedback we have received from parents has been glowing.

Those of you who attend the junior or senior school assemblies would have seen our leaders doing a wonderful job of running the assembly. The role does not only involve speaking at assembly. They also compile all the information that they present. We are very fortunate to have such capable student leaders.

Meeting With Your Child’s Teacher

Our teachers believe it is important that they are kept updated on what is happening in their students' lives and rely on parents to keep them informed. If you have something to share with your child’s teacher you can email them via Compass, ring them before or after school or pop in and have a chat with them after school.

Unfortunately, teachers are unable to have unscheduled meetings with parents before school. If before school is the only time you are available, please make an appointment so that the teacher can plan accordingly.
