UNE Open Day
Last week a group of senior students visited the University of New England’s Open Day with Mrs Barrett and Mr Meppem. They were able to tour the residential colleges, go on tours of parts of the university including the Clinical School, archaeology and other faculties.

Mr Vesey-Wells and Mrs Barrett attended this presentation meeting representatives of various mining companies and employers to find out more about career opportunities in mining ranging from university graduates to vocational employment including apprenticeships.
National Careers Week 2024
To celebrate this week, some of our students had the opportunity to attend the Northwest Regional Careers Expo as outlined below.
Ultimately, career development is about much more than jobs – it is about how to live your life. The objectives of National Careers Week are to:
- Develop community awareness of the concept, benefit, and value of career development.
- Raise aspirations, challenge stereotypes, and broaden horizons about careers.
- Highlight the need for ongoing reskilling and upskilling to support careers throughout life.
- Identify the changing nature of work and its impact on all Australians.
- Showcase industries and the career opportunities available in them.
- Provide opportunities to partner with key stakeholders.
Parents can find out more about helping their child and knowing what options are available to them by using these resources.

Northwest Regional Careers Expo - for students May 15th
Some students in Years 10 and 11attended the Expo on Wednesday 15th May with close to one hundred different exhibitors present ranging from local employers and organisations, TAFE, colleges and universities.
Newcastle Uni Talk
Forty three Year 11 and 12 students engaged with Newcastle University representatives talking about Newcastle Uni, accommodation and early entry. Students gained valuable information for their future careers and study.
Work Experience
Many students are investigating work experience in a variety of employment areas including electrical, welding, fabrication and carpentry. Please remember to see Mrs Samantha Cox to discuss work experience and collect a work experience pack.
Shae-Ann Hill was selected to do work experience at Taronga Zoo Dubbo.

A Reminder for students to check their school mmails
Students are reminded to check their emails daily. The Transition Team will submit numerous Expression of Interests (EOI) for training, professional learning and/or fantastic events. Recently a student survey was sent asking students in Years 10 - 12 to submit an EOI regarding white card training for mid to late November. If you haven’t done so already, please complete the survey.
