Dear Families and friends,

What a way to start! I cannot express enough of my gratitude and appreciation to all of you for making me feel so welcome during my very first time at Cavendish and in fact in country Victoria. I would like to thank Miss Purnell, for her incredible role in education at Cavendish Primary School. I have no doubt that Cavendish will continue to remember Miss P and all her contribution to Cavendish Primary School and rural education in Victoria.

As I walked at the Red Gum festival, it didn't take long before I started feeling wrapped in cotton wool (amazing wool at the festival) with such rural warmth. It was so moving and reassuring to see the Cavendish community in action coming to this very special and beautiful town and the festival. Straight up, I had the privilege to meet most of you and students at the festival and then at the Footy on Sunday before starting at Cavendish Primary on Monday.

It was really amazing to see all the students at the music concert with Mrs Barber as well as a wide range of talents on display around the whole town and the school grounds. This is a credit to all the hard work of the Cavendish community and the school staff. I know these events take months of sweat and sacrifice and time away from family. In addition, I was able to purchase a piece of artwork, an acrylic painting of a red gum, symbolic of my first acquaintances of Cavendish.

As Acting Principal at Cavendish Primary School, I will work my hardest to make every one of you proud and help Cavendish Primary with its next purpose in education. I will make sure every student is safe, happy, engaged and challenged to be the best version of themselves achieving their full potential.

Responsible Pet Program

This Friday morning, we had the Responsible Pets Program visiting at our school. The Responsible Pets Ownership program is aimed at 5 to 12 year olds and has been delivered to over 1 million Victorian primary school children. It visits over 800 primary schools each year across the state. The program includes: a dog visit and all students get to learn about how to be responsible pet owners including how to feed and take care of different pets.

ANZAC Day

On 24th April, we will have a school assembly commemorating the soldiers who lost their lives during ANZAC War in Gallipoli. A reminder that there will be no school on Thursday 25th April for a Public Holiday.

Student Free Day

The students will have a short week next week as next Friday 26th April is our first Curriculum Day. Staff are attending a professional learning day on student wellbeing in Hamilton. No students will be required at school this day.

Welcome Max

Congratulations to Brent, Tania and Travis who welcomed Max to their family on Thursday 11th April weighing 3.42kg. We hope that Max brings you all lots of love and happiness.
