Week 1 & 2 : Ready to Learn
Willy Kids are Ready to Learn
As we begin a new school term, we are excited by the many different and exciting experiences that lie ahead of us.
There are a few key skills that will help us along the way to stick to our routines, and to set new goals for the term ahead.
- Begin the day with a positive attitude and a growth mindset.
- Be organised with learning and personal belongings to set yourself up for a successful day
- Show that you are ready to learn by listening actively to those who are speaking.
Active listening can look many different ways.
We can be Listening Legends by understanding how our whole body listens best and by respecting that other people might listen in different ways.
We can show that we are listening actively by responding in a number of ways.
- My hands are calm.
- My brain is thinking about what is being said
- My mouth is quiet
- My legs or feet are on the floor
- I am facing the direction of the speaker.
- My ears ready to hear
- I respect the person who is talking
Be proactive and purposeful in what you are doing and what you want to achieve.
If you encounter a problem, display initiative and look for alternative solutions.
Be friendly, fair and inclusive of others.
Be aware that some people find it harder to adapt to changes than others. How can we help?
We can help by:
- checking in on our classmates
- smiling and offering a helping hand
