From the Principal

Principal: Mathew Montebello

Dear Families,

We welcome back all our students, families, and staff to Term Two. After a short 9-week Term One, this term will span across 11 weeks with several key events across the term.

I again wanted to thank all involved in the school’s Easter Raffle. Running alongside our Easter hat parade in the morning was the raffle and both were a huge success. It was great to have so many families present and supporting the students. The raffle raised an astonishing $4300 for the school, which was an amazing effort considering the day prior, the JSC raised over $2200 for the Royal Children’s Hospital, Good Friday Appeal at the cupcake stall.

Term Two promises to be filled with lots of learning experiences and events, while teachers will undertake the first reporting requirements for the year.

Student reports will be available to families on the Friday of week 10, while student conferences will take place on Tuesday 25th June, Week 11. Students will be dismissed at 12:30pm on this day.

Also, a reminder to families that Monday 20th May will be a pupil free Curriculum Day.

School Uniform

A reminder to all students and families about the importance of wearing the appropriate school uniform. As the weather cools, the need for school jackets increases. Jackets can be purchased through our school supplier as well as through the second-hand uniform stall. There is no requirement for students to wear hats outside in terms 2 & 3, although we would still recommend for students to wear them to stay sun smart. The place of school uniform supports a culture of school pride, while also removing the influence of fashion trends often explored by more senior students. We would like to thank families for their support in ensuring our royal blue wave is seen across the whole school.

2025 Prep Enrolments

We are excited to start the process of welcoming our new Willy Kids for 2025 with our prep information night scheduled for Tuesday 30th April at 7pm in the school’s junior (redbrick) building. This night will be further supported by several school tours that will take place on the 1st, 6th, 16th May and 11th and 23rd June respectively.

We look forward to welcoming siblings and new families to the Willy PS community and supporting them with their transition from kindergarten.

150th Celebration Documentary

It seems like a long time ago that we were celebrating the school’s 150th anniversary. Next week we are excited to launch our 150th webpage which will be the commemorative home of our 150 celebrations. One key feature on this page will be the hosting of the school’s 150th Celebration Documentary, produced by the Dean family. Once up we will look to communicate and promote this to the community, so everyone has the chance to view the amazing documentary.
