This Week's Updates

Dear Parents,

The last month of Autumn has arrived bringing some beautiful sunshine and allowing us to fully appreciate the autumnal colourscape against a bright blue sky - perfect leaf- kicking (or raking) weather.

Term 2 is in full swing and this week brings lots of classroom learning and extra curricular activities.

As of this afternoon, all classes have been out on an excursion this term related to their specific focus related to our whole school Term Two throughline of sustainability. To compliment this we have our whole school Student Wellbeing Focus on responsibility which is proving a great success too.

Our next School Advisory Council Meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday 7 May.

Pasta Day - Wednesday 8th May

Walk to school day - Thursday 9th May

We will be holding our annual Walk To School Day at St. James on Thursday 9th May. We look forward to participating with your children in this event which promotes a safe and healthy lifestyle. For the many families who live too far away from St James to walk, we encourage you to drop your children off and have them walk part of the way. You may even wish to consider teaming up with other families to do this. Students who walk will earn points for their house colour.

Mothers Day Celebrations - Friday 10th May

On Friday 10th May, we will be celebrating Mother's Day commencing at 8:15am with a light morning tea. While we are catering for our adult only, children are very welcome to be in the community centre at the discretion of their mum.

And for Dads eyes only, please see below attachment for information on our Mothers Day Stall.

Thank you to Cate Pigeaut, Jess Savior and other volunteer helpers for providing this opportunity for our students.

Buy your tickets for our P & F Major Social Event - Not to be missed!

Our fantastic Social Event crew - Courtney, Erin, Monique, Steph and Rosanna are working tirelessly on the upcoming Trivia Night. A flyer went home last week, so start grab your crew, pop on some 90s tunes , book your tickets and start brushing up on your general knowledge.

Building Works Update

As you may have seen, our building works have commenced and the cross-over is almost complete. This is an integral part of the building works and it was great to have such dry weather for the concrete pour.

There will be some disruption to parking for the remainder of the year depending on the number of tradies we will have onsite at once. You may wish to consider using the Frank Street pedestrian gate or the gate closest to Blanche Drive for drop off and pick up. We will update you with any changes to this as we deal with the various building teams. We appreciate your ongoing patience with this.

Demolition commenced today and the playground has now disappeared. True to any demo form, a water supply pipe was disturbed which resulted in the water being turned off for a slight period of time!

Farm Update

It is with great excitement that we would like to introduce you all to our two newest additions to the St James community, our two little Pygmy goat girls. They are half sisters and come to us from a lovely farm up in Mt Evelyn. They are 6 & 8 months old and being Pygmy goats they will stay very small.

Stay tuned for photos of your children visiting these gorgeous girls down on the farm.

Here are our sustainability leaders Lucy and Ivy along with Macy and Indie. These girls worked extremely hard helping me get the farm ready for the goats. Well done girls!

Prep 2025

This week we are sending home invitations to all new families to book in for a "meet n greet" session with myself.

Next week we will send home these invitations to our current families who have a sibling joining us in Prep 2025.

So far we have over 50 applications for enrolment. If you are a current family and have not yet submitted an application form, you need to do so THIS WEEK to avoid missing out on a place.
