3/4 Classroom News

Welcome back to Term 2. We hope you had an enjoyable Easter and spent time with family and friends.
There's lots of great things happening in the 3/4 class this term and it's already begun! Our reading focus is linked to our Inquiry Unit on World Explorers. This week, the students are spending alot of time researching their chosen explorer and findingimportant, relevant information to use in their end of term projects. Fluency paired reading will also begin next week, with the students using this week's spelling dictation passage as their fluency focus text. Everything is linked in literacy! We are continuing to focus on writing creative, descriptive sentences by using adverbs, adjectives, and powerful verbs to write a suspense narrative.
In Maths, we continue to focus on our Ninja Maths, where students are mastering their times tables using a range of strategies. Through practice and perseverance, our number ninjas are continuing to sharpen their multiplication skills and gaining confidence every day. We have also used this opportunity to investigate fact families; looking at the relationship between multiplication and division problems and how they are linked.
As mentioned above, our Inquiry Focus this term is 'Into the Unknown'. Our Unit began last week with a focus on our ANZAC'S and their sacrifices as they headed off 'into the unknown' for our Country. The students researched ANZAC Day and created an Information Text which are proudly on display in the classroom. The next few weeks will be spent researching World Explorers who went 'into the unknown' for varying reasons, shaping our interconnected world. Finally, at the end of the term, the students will enjoy learning about local history, as they explore local buildings and research a local hero from the past.
We look forward to another amazing term with the students and can't wait to see them achieve great things in Term 2!
