What a fantastic start to the Term!!  The children have returned rested and enthusiatic to continue their learning.

Inquiry

The title of our Inquiry this term is 'The Changing World'.  In this unit of work, the children will learn about change through the lens of science, history and geography.  They will learn about how our community has changed over time, how the seasons change and how living things change in order to survive.

We will be undertaking experiments and will be growing our own dwarf peas.  Our first experiment has been to observe the changes we see when adding orbeez to water.  The children were eager to watch them grow and to record the changes that we saw.  It's also so much fun to feel them slip between your fingers and play with them!

Phonics Plus

Have you noticed that your child has been able to read and write more letters and sounds?  We've been working our way through the Phonics Plus program and the children have been making huge strides in their work.  Each day we read and write letters of the alphabet and practise the sounds that they make.  We then spell words using our letter sound knowledge and even complete dictation where we write an entire sentence.
