Co-curricular Music, Dance and Drama

Junior Drama Club

Who: Open to Years 5 and 6 only

When: Thursdays after school 3:30 to 4:30pm

Where: Performing Arts Centre

Junior Drama Club is held in the PAC every Thursday afternoon from 3:30 to 4:30pm. This is run by Ms Phillips, accompanied by two-Year 10 drama elective students Elsa and Indi.

During these lessons students from Years 5 and 6 in the Junior School come together and work on new theatre sports skills for an hour after school. Students play lots of drama centred games which focus on different elements, like teamwork, communication and improvisation skills, script work, and more.

Recently, the class has split into 3 groups and have been working on some scripts which will be shown for Junior Performing Arts night, which has been a lot of fun!

The class is supervised by Ms Phillips and managed by Ms Wenman, but Elsa and Indi, who are dedicated drama students and are planning on taking drama for their HSC run the activities. This student led initiative allows a whole new way for students from across the School to bond and even make new friends and connections across year groups and also allows the Junior students to have friendly faces in the Senior School during their big leap into Secondary schooling.

If you would like to join, it is NOT too late!! Please join up using the parent app for Term 2.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Our Junior Performing Arts Evening is scheduled for Tuesday 24 June 2025. Doors open at 5.30pm, show commences 6.00pm.

This is a showcase of all the curriculum performing arts classes and is an important event on the School calendar. The theme for this year’s Performance Evening is ‘Adventurers of the Sea’.

Whilst we don’t expect parents to go to great expense, it does add extra excitement to the students when they can dress up in a costume and feel special. We are sending this information out now to allow plenty of time to source and coordinate items and ask that the clothing be brought to school by the end of Week 6 (Friday 6 June).

The attachment below is a 'wish list' of what style of costume would suit the performance piece. Please ensure your child is able to move their arms and dance in their costume. We are also open to creative suggestions, should you find something more appropriate please let us know.

Thank you all very much for your cooperation in organising these costumes, and please contact us if you require any further clarification.

We are really looking forward to this event.
