Kindergarten’s Big Adventures in Primary!

As part of their New Beginnings unit, our Kindergarten students have been on an exciting journey through the primary school! They’ve stepped into different classrooms, met friendly new teachers, and made wonderful new friends. Each visit has been filled with laughter, discovery, and hands-on activities that have sparked their curiosity and confidence.

A huge thank you to the amazing teachers and students who welcomed our littlest NCS learners with open arms. Your kindness and enthusiasm made them feel so special, and these experiences have helped set the stage for a fantastic year of learning ahead!

We love seeing our school community come together to support and encourage one another. Here’s to many more adventures in learning!

Kindy’s Butterfly Wonder!

Our Kindergarten students recently witnessed the incredible wonder of God’s creation—watching butterflies emerge from their chrysalises! It was a truly captivating experience as six beautiful butterflies stretched their wings, dried off, and then fluttered into our school garden.

Along the way, we learned all about the butterfly life cycle, fascinating Monarch butterfly facts, and we’re now getting ready to plant flowers to welcome even more butterflies to our school!

Here’s what some of our Kindy students had to say about this amazing moment:

🦋 “They stay in their chrysalises and then they come out. Then they go out and find some friends.” – Hannah

🦋 “They start as eggs.” – Macey

🦋 “I loved the wings because they were orange and black.” – Amelia

🦋 “I really wanted to hold a butterfly but then they would fly away.” – Chayse

🦋 “Butterflies can have different colours on their wings.” – Angus

🦋 “They drink nectar to keep alive.” – Isabella

🦋 “They use a chrysalis to turn into a butterfly.” – AJ

🦋 “We watched it fly away.” – Shiloh

What an incredible way to learn about God’s amazing creatures! 🌿💛

Making a Difference on Clean Up Australia Day!

In February, our school rolled up its sleeves and took action for Clean Up Australia Day!

Primary students took charge of our school campus, scouring every corner to collect rubbish and keep our grounds looking beautiful. While a small group of High school volunteers stepped up to clean around Twin Waters Reserve, making a real impact in our local community. And they did it all in the blazing 35°C heat! 🔥☀️

Thank you to our amazing students for caring for our local environment.

Zone Swimming Carnival Recap

Well done to our 19 Secondary student competitors and three helpers (Summer, Levi & Heidi) who represented us at the Zone Swimming Carnival recently!

The day was full of great races, strong competition, and plenty of school spirit. While the weather was a mix of humid conditions and a much colder atmosphere than our school carnival, our swimmers gave it their all in the pool.

Our students performed exceptionally well against tough competition, showing determination, resilience, and teamwork. A special shoutout to the NCS cheer squad, who kept the energy high and supported our swimmers throughout the day!

A huge congratulations to our team for placing 3rd overall 🥉 in the secondary carnival - an incredible achievement! 🏊‍♂️

Mixed FAST5 Netball NSW Schools Cup

What a day! Our Year 11/12 students took on the FAST5 Netball GD, a high-speed, high-scoring version of netball with only five players per team.

With Power Plays (double points in a selected quarter) and Super Shots (scoring from different zones), it was a fast, tactical, and exciting competition!

After a slow start adjusting to the new rules and two early losses, NCS finished strong with three big wins! The team showed great resilience and teamwork, adapting quickly to the game’s unique format.

In true netball style, there were plenty of "here if you needs" from the team, ready to support one another both on and off the court!

A huge shoutout to Amelia P (Year 7) for her incredible efforts in umpiring, warming up the team, and keeping the energy high throughout the day.

Well done to all involved - what an awesome experience! Can’t wait for next time!

Che & Jarrod Take on CSSA Football Trials!

A huge congratulations to Che (Year 10) and Jarrod (Year 11) for proudly representing our school at the CSSA Secondary Boys 18&U Football Trials last week! ⚽

With approximately 70 players trialing in challenging heat, the competition was fierce, making for a demanding but rewarding experience.

Despite not being selected for the final team, both students showcased their skills, resilience, and sportsmanship against a strong field of competitors. This experience will undoubtedly contribute to their development as players, and we look forward to seeing them continue to grow and improve.

Well done, Che and Jarrod—you did us proud!

K-2 AFL Gala Day

On Tuesday 11 March, our K-2 students had an absolute blast at the AFL Gala Day, thanks to John Dyball and the amazing High School PASS class! 🏉

From kicking AFL balls to weaving through obstacle courses, our little athletes had the chance to develop new skills while having an absolute ball!  And while waiting for their turn? Plenty of dancing and fun music kept the energy high!

💥 Highlights of the Day:

  • Tackling a sports bag like true footy stars
  • Perfecting their AFL kicks 🏉
  • Throwing balls through tricky targets 🎯
  • Dodging, weaving, and racing throughtheobstacle course
  • Parachute games – a clear crowd favourite! 🪂

Thank you John and the high school PASS class for making this happen for us. We all had a great time and even the slight rain didn't dampen our enthusiasm. ☔

A Special Visit from Uncle Tom

On Thursday 13 March, our Stage 1 students were honoured to welcome Uncle Tom, a respected local Aboriginal Elder from Wreck Bay. As part of our learning about Australia and Aboriginal Studies this term, we were excited to hear his stories and wisdom firsthand.

Uncle Tom shared about his childhood in Wreck Bay, what school was like for him, and the importance of being careful and respectful of the land. He also spoke about what it means to be an Elder,  and about his church, ShACC. He then read to us from Jeremiah 32:17:

📖 “O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you!”

Uncle Tom was kind, always ready to answer our questions and as interested in us as we were in listening to him.

To show our appreciation, we presented Uncle Tom with hand-illustrated cards created by each student. Thank you, Uncle Tom, for your time, wisdom, and generosity—we loved having you visit!
