Kitchen

It’s been another busy and exciting fortnight in the Oatlands Kitchen!

👩‍🍳 Kids in the Kitchen Program: The program is going along great! The children have been busy decorating biscuits and making hot cross buns, learning new skills while having fun.

🍪 Preps: Decorated biscuits (bunny heads and bottoms). The children enjoyed using melted chocolate and sprinkles to bring their designs to life.

🥞 Grade 1s: Pear pikelets (still in progress). They are developing mixing skills while making these fruity pancakes.

🧁 Grade 3s: Mini carrot cupcakes. Students had fun grating carrots and learning how to make these delicious, moist treats. They also iced them to add a sweet finishing touch.

🍞 Grade 4s: Hot cross buns. Students practiced kneading dough with this Easter treat.

🧁 Grade 5s: Marble cupcakes and spring rolls. They experimented with different flavours and techniques to create delicious treats. They also measured their own ingredients, building independence and confidence in the kitchen.

🌱 Garden Update: The garden is growing very well and is nearly ready to harvest after the holidays! The students are eagerly watching their hard work flourish, and we can’t wait to use our fresh produce in the kitchen.

Tips:

  • You can swap sultanas for chocolate chips if you like!

  • Add some chopped nuts or seeds for extra texture.

  • Use coconut yogurt for a dairy-free option.
