Prep

We made it! What a fantastic first term we have had with all of our wonderful Prep students. They have each had a positive, fun-filled start to their learning journey and have already displayed so much growth, both inside and out of the classroom.

Want an insight into the adventures of a Prep classroom? Here’s a brief run through of what Term 1 looked like for us.

In our Integrated lessons, we have been exploring ‘Change’. The Prep students participated in a challenge to identify their teachers by looking at their baby photos and discussing how they have changed as they grew up! 

Our Numeracy lessons usually begin with a warm up game, followed by a learning task and a reflection. This term we have covered the concepts of location, 2D shapes, Days of the Week and Graphing. The fundamentals of counting, number recognition, representing numbers and sequencing are included in each Maths lesson through our warm up games and ‘Days of School’ maths. Literacy has been jam packed full of Letter/Sound activities, SMART Spelling, Writing and Handwriting. We made tiger toast for the letter T, practised our handwriting with the help of Pevan and Sarah’s online videos, and went on a ‘trip to space’ to inspire our writing! Our confidence is improving all of the time and we can’t wait to continue to grow our letter/sound and word knowledge next term!

Along with our core curriculum activities, Term 1 also included getting to meet our Grade 5 Buddies, Harmony Day and making Easter treats in the Kitchen. 

We would like to congratulate all of our wonderful Prep families for getting through their very first school term. We look forward to doing it all again with you in Term 2.
