Principal Report

As we reach the end of the school term, I want to take a moment to celebrate and reflect on our achievements and activities. Our Preps have transitioned through to full days at school. Students from across the year levels have participated in, Swimming and Chess Competitions, NAPLAN testing,  Gala Sports Day and Grade 6 Camp to Wilson’s Prom.

A first for Oatlands, we will have a Mothers’ Day event on Friday 2nd May, from 9:00 to 11:00am. The morning will be similar to our Fathers’ Day Breakfast, where our mums and motherly figures will arrive with their child/children and then attend the gym where guest speaker Jo Stanley will feature. This will be followed by classroom-based activities in your child’s/children’s classroom. At recess mums will return to the gym for a delicious morning tea.

Unfortunately I will miss our ANZAC Ceremony on Wednesday 30th April because Pam and I will be hiking the 96 kilometre Kokoda Trail through the Owen Stanley Rangers in Papua New Guinea for 10 days. We are really looking forward to seeing the trail that forms an important part of our history in World War 2. I expect this to be a tough trail to hike because of its steepness, mud, torrential rain and humidity. Following this, we will be fortunate enough to spend 3 days in schools and the local communities on the north side of the Kokoda Trail.
