Year 9 RAID Program

Year 9 Students’ Fantastic Start to 2025

As we reflect on the first few months of 2025, it’s clear that our Year 9 students at Gisborne Secondary College have made an outstanding start to the year! From the classroom to extracurricular activities, our Year 9 cohort has been demonstrating remarkable dedication, enthusiasm, and respect.

One of the standout highlights has been the excellent behaviour exhibited by the majority of Year 9 students in their classes. Teachers have been impressed by the level of focus, respect, and engagement shown by students, creating a positive and productive learning environment. This commitment to academic success sets a great example for others and contributes to the school’s vibrant culture.

A special mention must go to the Year 9 students who have participated in the RAID program. This initiative continues to empower students to make positive choices and contribute meaningfully to the school community. Whether it’s through leadership roles in the group challenges, community service during clean up Australia Day or demonstrating resilience in the face of challenges our students have been embracing the values of RAID with enthusiasm and a strong sense of responsibility.

While we celebrate these achievements, we’d like to kindly remind parents and guardians of the importance of students wearing the correct school uniform. A neat and well-maintained uniform is a key part of our school identity, fostering a sense of pride and belonging. We ask for your continued support in ensuring that all students adhere to the school’s uniform policy. This is especially important on our RAID days.

We are incredibly proud of the Year 9 students’ efforts so far, and we thoroughly enjoyed our final RAID day for the term - Ice Skating and ArtVo!

In our first RAID day of Term 2, students will be at school completing their Morrisby testing. This test will explore their strengths, interests, and potential career paths, with a free expert career consultation to occur later in the Term. More information about this will be sent out at the Start of term 2.

They will also hear from a motivational speaker Nathan Hulls who will focus on Overcoming adversity. More information can be found via the link below.
