Leader of Year 12 Wellbeing
Mr Peter Robertson
We are now on the final stretch of Term 1 and Year 12 has commenced their second HSC Assessment Block, continuing through to Friday, 4th April. They then return to normal lessons for the last week of the term before the two week school holidays. Term 2 begins on Tuesday, 29 April.
We have been so impressed with the level of commitment to study in the lead-up to these Assessments. Many students have taken advantage of the Learning Centre’s extended opening hours, before and after school. It is great to see so many groups utilising our fantastic breakout/seminar rooms to work together collaboratively in preparation for the current tasks. This is something that should definitely continue next term!
I also want to commend the huge majority of the cohort on their consistent adult maturity and the generally high standard of uniform and grooming. We have experienced very few serious issues of concern and the summer uniform has been popular and successful. The challenge now comes with the colder terms and the change to winter uniform. It is an expectation that all students are in correct uniform on the first day of Term 2, no excuses and no arguments. College blazers are to be worn to and from school, including ties for the boys. Hair should also align with our guidelines.
At our year assembly on Tuesday, 8 April, Mrs Kennedy (Pathways and Partnerships) will address the group on the many opportunities coming up for those students who may be interested in such areas as a teaching career, the sports industry and other fields. It is coming up to that time when scholarships, university courses and career options are becoming available. A Google Form will be put out to all of Year 12 to gauge their interest in the various options and I urge all of our young men and women to make their future goals a top priority when the current assessments conclude.
Finally, I will be taking some of our Student Leaders to the Dawn Service on Anzac Day (Friday, 25 April) at Cronulla Beach. This will be a great opportunity for our College to lay a wreath and honour the service and memory of those who made such a huge sacrifice during times of war. I also look forward to our upcoming Founder’s Day (Friday, 2 May), Mother’s Day Breakfast (Friday, 9 May) and the Year 12 Reflection Day (Friday, 30 May) in the first half of next term.
I wish all of our community members, students and families alike, a peaceful and successful Lenten period as we move towards Easter.
