Beginning Of Term 1:

Student Voice

2025 College Captains

As Term 1 comes to a close, on behalf of the 2025 College Captains, we would like to congratulate all the students and staff for a fantastic beginning to the year. We want to take a moment to acknowledge the hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm shown by our students, staff, and wider school community.

To reflect on the amazing start to the year we have had, we would like to acknowledge the highlights of term one. This includes the house swimming carnival, which showed a lot of enthusiasm from both staff and students, the recent oz rock concert from both our senior and junior students, the year 12 staff vs students volleyball, the year 7 barbecue and harmony week, which was a fantastic week of celebration, showing the colour and diversity of different cultures that form our school.

Additionally, in the next coming up days, we are looking forward to two major events being the Walkathon and Open Night. The Walkathon will be a great opportunity for students to come together, get active, and raise funds for the Monash Children’s hospital. Meanwhile, Open Night will showcase everything that makes our school special, giving future students and families a glimpse into our vibrant community, where we encourage everyone to get involved.

This term has been filled with excitement, and there is so much more to look forward to in the months ahead. Use the two-week break to relax, spend time with family and friends, and recharge for the next term. We look forward to seeing everyone back, refreshed and ready for a great start to Term 2!

From your College Captains,

Student Experience Portfolio

The members of the student representative council have been working tirelessly this term which has led to an incredible start to the year. We held two successful events this term which were random acts of kindness day and harmony week. This year, we decided to celebrate random acts of kindness day a little different by encouraging not only students but also teachers and staff to take part in spreading kindness. The SRC's health and wellbeing portfolio organized an activity where every student, teacher, and staff was randomly assigned a name from our school community to surprise with an act of kindness. It was great to see the SOC community participate and spread positivity and kindness around the school. To amplify the promotion of positivity and kindness, the SRC also handed out free fairy bread to students and staff. Every year, harmony week is one of SRC's biggest events and is filled with joy and excitement. This year was no exception. Thanks to the student experience portfolio and support from other SRC members, we hosted a range of activities and events throughout the week including a bakesale, Greek performances, Japanese movie sessions, and orange + culture wear themed free dress day. It was amazing to see everyone celebrating diversity and inclusivity at school. The enthusiasm and participation in these events motivate us to keep raising the bar for future SRC initiatives.

To end the term, we held year 7 election where students took the courage to present their speeches in order to get a chance at being apart of the SRC. The election was a huge success and we were thrilled to see the amount of year 7 students demonstrating confidence and leadership. The support and respect shown by their peers during the speeches reflected our school's HRRT values. Results from the election will be announced early term 2 so stay tuned! Planning for term 2 has already begun and we cannot wait to show you what we can do. See you next term!
