Possums

The Possum children have continued to enjoy learning about Easter. Last week we made some delicious Hot Cross Buns. In groups, children worked together to first make the dough, using a sieve and different measuring tools. Children followed along the visuals in the recipe, noticing especially that there was an egg coming up! We observed some lovely teamwork, with children holding the bowl for their friends to stir, and lots and lots of turn taking.

The next stage involved kneading and shaping the dough into balls. Then finally it was time for piping on the crosses and decorating with choc chips! We were very excited to see how much the dough rose with proving, and learned that is because of the yeast - and also that growing takes time! Our Hot Cross Buns were ready to eat nice and warm with our lunch. Thank you so much to our parent and grandparent helpers.

Children have also enjoyed making Easter baskets, and know that there will be some kind of surprise in their basket on the last day of term. Some of the children think it might be a chocolatey surprise! Children also challenged themselves to draw a Rabbit they could stick on their basket - they look amazing!

Then Jesus declared, 'I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.' - John 6:35

Echidnas

This term has flown by and if I was going to use one word to describe it, it would be ‘sharing’. From the beginning of the term to the end of it, the children and their families have provided us with so many interesting and varied ‘shares’!

Elly shared a Sea Dragon that she found on the beach with her family, Max shared his miniature Goats, Maggie showed us a plump and juicy Witchetty Grub her dad found in the wood pile (I later battered and fried it for Mr Missen’s dinner), Anna brought in her new baby sister, Jack shared a song on his ukelele with us and Hugh showed us his holiday snaps!

Dempsey shared a nest he found at Grandma’s, Elyse gave me a note she had written at home, Charlotte’s Zoo visit photos were put on the big screen, Harry shared the birth of his new baby brother, Mrs Tanner shared her piano playing, lots of parents shared their time for cooking experiences, Jacinta shared Echidna pictures and Mrs Ezzy shared her Violin magic with us! Although I am known to be an oversharer, my BIG contribution was the story of the 10kg block of chocolate I won paired with a book, which was all about sharing!

As children and families shared special moments, treasures, songs, and stories this term, they were not only building a sense of belonging and identity, but also reflecting the joy of giving that lies at the heart of Easter. Jesus’ life and resurrection remind us that love is best shown through generosity and care for others - something our Kinder community has beautifully lived out.

Freely you have received; freely give. - Matthew 10:8

We wish you all a safe and happy holiday break, and we’ll see you next term with our bells on!
