Inside the Classroom

The game of chess has been popular with our students this term. On the last day of Term 1, we held a chess competition with our Yr 3-6 students. Knock out rounds were held with two of our Year 6 students (Lachy and Ashton) making the final. You could hear a pin drop as all students were hanging on the edge of their seat with every move. It was an intense battle with Lachy winning the final move. Lachy then proceeded to take on our, self-proclaimed, "Grand Master Chess Champion" (aka Mr Wilcox) in a battle like no other. It was again intense each move carefully monitored by both competitors and the audience alike. Our "Grand Master Chess Champion" was victorious, and in no way humble with his win. Congratulations to Lachy on making it to the Grand Final. We look forward to continuing this in Term 2 improving and mastering our skills in visualisation, evaluation, calculation, tactics and strategy.
