Principal's Message

From the Desk of Kathy Nott - Term 2, Week 1

Good afternoon, Parents/Carers,

Welcome Back to Term 2.  I hope everyone has had a safe and relaxing break.  Our staff have been working hard this week preparing for the new term and are looking forward to seeing all of our students return tomorrow.  We look forward to a rewarding and productive term.

Behaviour Focus

Our behaviour focus for Week 1 is Respect - Kindness

We are learning to:

  • being kind to eachother

  • using kind words

We know we are successful when:

  • if you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours

ANZAC March

It was great to see so many of our students and staff attend the ANZAC March last Friday on ANZAC Day to honour and remember those who have served and are serving in the armed forces so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have in our country.  Thank you to everyone who participated and to our Captains who placed wreaths on behalf of Werris Creek Public School.

Turn Up Awards

We finished off last Term with all students who were at 90% and above in the draw to win a prize of games.  Our winner was Joe. Congratulations   Joe.  We also, drew the winners of our Turn Up Award for Week 11.  Our winners were:

K/1B -         Raegan

2/3O -         Jed

4/5/6W -    Lebron

We will continue with the Turn Up Award program this term.

"Do It For Dolly" Day

We will be participating this year in the "Do It For Dolly" Day.  We ask all students to wear the colour blue and bring a gold coin donation.  We will also be selling blue cupcakes for a gold coin donation and blue jelly cups for 50c.  All proceeds from the day will go to the Dolly’s Dream Foundation who provide free support and resources to help navigate the challenges of bullying and it's impacts, connect with services, and take steps towards creating a kinder, safer world. For more information go to their website: www.dollysdream.org.au.

Life Skills Program

Our 4/5/6W students will have the opportunity to work with Ms Saunders each week participating in our Life Skills Program. Students will utilise their numeracy, literacy and social skills to collate orders, buy ingredients and cook/prepare meal deals that will be available to purchase on Tuesdays throughout Term 2.  Each week we will advertise the meal deal for the following week and students must have their orders in by the Monday.  This allows our students to collate the orders and work out what they need to purchase to create the meal.  No late orders will be accepted.

Kind regards

Kathy Nott
