Year 11 Report

As we head rapidly towards the end of Semester 1, all our Year 11 students are working hard on their final assessments – SACs, EoLs and ALATs - to ensure that they demonstrate understanding and can achieve a pass mark for their Unit 1 subjects prior to commencing Unit 2 on Monday 16th June. For our VCE students, this includes the upcoming exam period (6th- 13th June), which students are being prepared for with study skills sessions and revision classes. This should be backed up at home with regular study, and we appreciate support from home in allowing your children the time and space to undertake this study.
This academic focus has been the main priority for all our Year 11 students; however, we are also taking the time to recognise those students who demonstrate our college value of respect, particularly towards their peers in the classroom setting. Certificates have been awarded to our VCE VM students and will be awarded to our VCE students at their next assembly. Students who receive these awards should be extra proud of this recognition from their teachers as people who support and collaborate with their peers in a positive and supportive way in the classroom.
Students across our Year 11 cohort have also had some great opportunities to explore and plan for their life beyond school this term. Our VCE VM students recently attended the “Try a Trade Expo” in Cranbourne West, where they had the opportunity to explore various careers in a fun and interactive way. Students enjoyed learning about a range of training and employment opportunities. Several of our high achieving VCE students attended the Centre for Higher Education (CHES) Expo on Friday 30th May, where they had the chance to connect with leading academics and high-ability peers and chart a course towards university. It is a privilege to be able to take students out of the school grounds to explore these exciting opportunities that lie beyond school life for them.
I wish all our Year 11 students the best of luck over the next few weeks in getting their Unit 1 assessments finished off, and to VCE students in undertaking their first round of senior school exams. As always, we appreciate your support at home in guiding our young people through these challenging and potentially stressful times. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need any support.
