Leaving SMPS? Moving House? Moving Overseas? Visa Expiring?

If you have any intentions to unfortunately leave SMPS in the next 6 months, please let the school office know. Your decision doesn't need to be confirmed and doesn't mean your child loses their spot if you change your mind, but giving us a heads up is very helpful. This information is vital for the school to budget and plan for staffing in 2026. We don't want any children to be placed in classes that are too big or only have a few students, but this relies on us knowing who will be here. If you suspect you may be moving house, travelling overseas or you know your visa is expiring, please inform the school via email: south.melbourne.ps@education.vic.gov.au.

Letting us know if advance will also assist the school in following up on devices and if you wish to buy them out or not.

🌏 Help Us Celebrate Our Cultural Diversity at SMPS! 🌏

At South Melbourne Primary School, we are proud of the rich cultural diversity within our school community. To celebrate and share this, we are wanting to create an SMPS Cultural Wall that reflects the backgrounds, traditions, and stories of our students and their families.

We warmly invite families to donate a cultural item, artwork or symbol from your country of origin that can be framed and hung on a wall. Along with your contribution, please include a short description explaining what it is and what it represents.

We will then create a Cultural Wall to show the many cultures represented at SMPS and to promote understanding, inclusion, and pride in our shared community.

If you would like to contribute, please send your item (labelled with child's name and class) to the school office.

Thank you for helping us celebrate the uniqueness of every family at SMPS!

Bike Shed

We kindly ask all students and families to please ensure that the bike shed gate is closed securely after use. Unfortunately, the gate has been left open frequently, which compromises the security of everyone's bikes and scooters. Parents, if your child travels to school by bike or scooter, please remind them to close the gate behind them. Let's not assume the next person will do it - taking a moment to secure the gate helps protect everyone's property.
