PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Dear Parents and Carers,
Whilst Shane Elevato completes a five-week acting position as a Senior Education Improvement Leader at the DET, I have had the privilege of stepping in as College Principal for this period of time. As we move further into the term, it has been wonderful to see the energy and resilience of our students shining through in so many areas of school life.
Open Evening
Firstly, I would like to invite all families and members of our community to our Open Evening next Monday, 23 March, beginning at 6:00pm. This is always a special opportunity to showcase the learning, programs and opportunities available at our school. Visitors will be able to explore classrooms, meet staff and students, and gain a sense of the vibrant learning environment that makes our school such a great place to be. If you know families who may be considering enrolment in the future, please encourage them to come along and experience the school for themselves.
Athletics Day
Last week we held our Athletics Day, which proved to be a great success despite some challenging weather conditions. A fair amount of rain made the day unpredictable at times, and the venue itself presented some limitations due to ongoing construction. However, our students demonstrated outstanding resilience and adaptability. They embraced the conditions with positivity, supported one another and participated enthusiastically throughout the day. It was fantastic to see such strong house spirit and encouragement across all year levels.
NAPLAN
Our students have also recently been completing NAPLAN testing. While there were some technical challenges during the process, our young people once again showed impressive persistence and motivation. They approached the tests with maturity, patience and a determination to do their very best. We are incredibly proud of the way they handled the situation and remained focused on their efforts.
Year 7 Camp
Another highlight of the past few weeks was the Year 7 Camp at Roses Gap in the Grampians. Camps are always an important milestone in the secondary school journey, and this experience provided a wonderful opportunity for students to bond and build new friendships. Surrounded by the beautiful natural environment, students embraced a range of activities and challenges, including the high ropes course, which certainly pushed many out of their comfort zones. It was fantastic to see the encouragement students gave one another as they worked together, built confidence and created lasting memories.
Thank you to our staff for their organisation and support across these events, and to our families for the encouragement you provide to your children each day. I look forward to seeing many of you at our Open Evening on Monday night.
Warm regards,
Rachel Barney
Acting Principal
