As we move into the second half of term one, student athletes have been completing fitness testing on court covering speed agility and anaerobic capacity, as well as strength testing in the gym. We have seen right across the board some excellent growth in speed, agility, strength, and power, which is a direct result of the student athletes commitment in the gym and on court. Well done Seth our legend Athlete Development Coach.
This week our year 8 & 9 girls attended an overnight camp experience in Anglesea where they worked on crucial aspects off the court of team dynamics, identifying personalities, and how we communicate, appreciate, and champion each other. There was the Amazing Race, which included the infamous Parker Street Hill; a 1km long step incline that challenged all for 30min. The students showed great spirit in staying to task, and pushing through individually and as a group to successfully conquer the challenge. There was great encouragement out on the course. High Ropes and raft building rounded out the adventure activities. The traditional camp game of Shark Tank brought all to their knees in laughter, particularly the staff judges as students were given the task of reusing, renaming, and selling an item with slogans, jingles, and some very convincing and amusing content.
We look forward to our Year 7 Girls Camp today (Friday 7th) and lookout for our Boys Program Day Camp next Tuesday.
I would like to wish Hayley Evans all the best as she heads off to Frankston this weekend as part of the Barwon Region side competing in the State Titles. Hayley has had a great year with selection into her Association Representative Side Geelong Centrals. Best wishes Hayley, have a great experience.
Jack Te Paa in our Junior Boys Netball Program has been selected into the next round of SSV Team Vic Selection - well done Jack!! He has also been selected as a member of the Elmer Region team in U/17 Boys for State Titles which is amazing for a 13 year old. Best wishes Jack!!
Have a great long weekend everyone!!!
