A Message From

Miss Loren

7th March 2025

Dear Families,

It has been a delight to return to school after two weeks of Long Service Leave (LSL). The warm welcome I received from everyone truly reflected the Keelonith spirit, and it brought a big smile to my face. A heartfelt thank you to Sam and Jane for their excellent leadership during my absence.

Volunteer Induction Sessions

Over the past two weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of conducting two Volunteer Induction sessions, training 23 people. I’m offering one final session for this semester, which will be held on Thursday, 25th March from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Please register at this link.

SAVE THE DATE - Fly High Night

Our 5th Annual Fly High Night will take place on Thursday, 3rd April, hosted by the School Community Association. We hope to see you all there from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. It is always a wonderful evening!

NAPLAN

NAPLAN testing for our Year 3 and Year 5 students will begin next week, and we wish all participating students the best of luck. In 2025, we will be conducting the sessions over a two-week period to accommodate the use of Chromebooks for all tests, except for Year 3 writing. NAPLAN helps capture trends in learning data across schools and the broader education system. We encourage families to maintain their regular routines during this period, as the tests are designed to measure student growth and capacity in areas like writing, spelling, reading, and numeracy. While important, these assessments are only one measure of student development.

We also want to remind everyone that NAPLAN tests only reflect a small part of what makes each child unique and exceptional. They do not assess attributes such as kindness, curiosity, resilience, or creativity – qualities we deeply value at Keelonith Primary School.

NAPLAN Testing Schedule:

  • Wednesday, 12th March: Year 3 & Year 5 Writing
  • Thursday, 13th March: Year 3 Reading
  • Friday, 14th March: Year 5 Reading
  • Monday, 17th March: Year 3 Language Conventions
  • Tuesday, 18th March: Year 5 Language Conventions
  • Wednesday, 19th March: Year 3 Numeracy
  • Thursday, 20th March: Year 5 Numeracy

School Council Nominations

We have received four nominations, which will fill the vacancies on the 2024 School Council. The nomination process is now closed.

2025 School Council

Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, 25th March. All families are welcome to attend.

Japanese Delegation Visit

On Monday, we had the privilege of hosting a delegation from Kyoto Koka Women’s University in Japan, who came to learn about our approach to Inclusive Education. This marks the second international delegation we have hosted in the last four months at Keelonith Primary School, and we are very proud to have been selected by the Department of Education (DET) to facilitate this visit.

School Photos

School photos will be taken on Friday, 14th March. Please ensure your child is in full school uniform on this day.

Safety Reminder

Several students have been wearing jewellery to school, including bracelets, necklaces, and long earrings. For safety reasons, these items should not be worn, as they can become caught and cause injuries. If your child wears jewellery for religious reasons or has permanent jewellery, please email me via the school’s email to let us know.

Semper Dental Visit

Semper Dental visited our school this week, and many families have taken advantage of this service.

Ramadan Mubarak!

To our Muslim community, I extend my best wishes for a blessed Ramadan, a month of reflection, devotion, and charity.

We hope you all enjoy a wonderful long weekend. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Tuesday.
