Principal's Report

Week 7 has been another busy and fulfilling week at St. Leonard's!
Prayer Over the Air and Project Compassion Appeal
We began the week with a meaningful virtual Liturgy led by 3/4F, marking the first full week of Lent. Our "Prayer Over the Air" focused on the Lenten themes of fasting and empathy, highlighting the challenges faced by those experiencing hunger worldwide. This seamlessly aligns with our Project Compassion appeal, which runs throughout Lent. Our Liturgy Captains explained to the students how Project Compassion supports vulnerable communities globally. We've also introduced a friendly competition to encourage student donations, with the class raising the most funds earning a special party in the final week of school. We encourage students to consider making a personal sacrifice and donating their own money this Lenten season.

NAPLAN
This week, our year 3 and 5 students commenced NAPLAN testing, beginning with Writing (Narrative) and Reading Comprehension. We are proud of their hard work and dedication in giving their best effort.
School Tour
Our student leaders have been exceptional ambassadors this week, conducting engaging school tours for prospective families. They showcased our excellent academic programs, facilities, specialist classes, and the warm, inclusive community spirit that makes St. Leonard's so special.
Mazenod College - Mission Action Day 2025.
We were delighted to welcome one of Mazenod College's School Captains, and one school Prefect; Antonio Tarallo and Jules Perang, who presented their exciting social justice initiative, "Mazenod College - Mission Action Day 2025." They shared details about their major fundraising event, "MAD Day," a carnival-style celebration featuring games, activities, sports, food stalls, and a talent show, all in support of the Oblate Missions in Indonesia, Hong Kong, and China. They emphasized their desire to strengthen partnerships with local primary schools and the wider community to amplify their impact on vulnerable populations. We encourage you to support their worthy cause by visiting: www.mycause.com.au/events/mazmad25.
The Staff Say Goodbye
The St. Leonard's staff will be attending a farewell dinner for Rob tonight, and we’re truly excited for a memorable evening ahead. It promises to be a special occasion, filled with laughter, good company, and plenty of cherished memories as we celebrate Rob’s time with us and wish him all the best in his next chapter.
Important Reminder: Student Supervision Before School
We've observed an increasing number of students arriving at school gates before 8:30 a.m. Please remember that students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian until the gates open at 8:30 a.m. Teacher supervision is only available from this time onwards.
The safety of our students is our utmost priority. Leaving children unsupervised before school poses a potential risk, particularly regarding traffic and other unforeseen circumstances.
If you are unable to remain with your child until 8:30am, we strongly recommend utilising the services of Camp Australia's before-school care, which is available from 7:30 a.m.
Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring the safety and well-being of all our students.
Have a good week ahead!
