Primary Year 3-6

Lent
Last week marked the beginning of the Lenten season. Lent is a 40-day season of reflection, prayer, and sacrifice leading up to Easter. It begins on Ash Wednesday and encourages spiritual growth through fasting, prayer, and acts of kindness.
Shrove Tuesday was recognised with a delicious triple stack of pancakes and maple syrup which were prepared, cooked and served by the VM students. Shrove Tuesday, also known as Pancake Day, is the day before Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of Lent in the Catholic Church. Shrove Tuesday is a reminder for Catholics to enter Lent with a spirit of repentance, self-discipline, and spiritual renewal as we prepare for Easter. This event raised money for CARITAS, supporting those in need. Thank you for your generosity in helping our students give back to the community.
Ash Wednesday was marked with a lovely and reverent whole school Liturgy held in the MPH. Thank you, Mrs Gough, for preparing our Liturgy and to Father Ashkar, for the blessing of the Ashes.
School Sports
What a massive two weeks we’ve had with School Sports! A very big Thank You to Miss Aldous for the phenomenal work she has done to ensure the College has had two successful carnivals – Swimming and Athletics.
Congratulations to all our swimmers who progressed to District, Division and Regional Swimming. A haul of ribbons was won in the pool along with some of our students named Age Champions – Awesome work!
Congratulations to Maci Tennant, Isla Swales, Isla Wilson and Annika Kingston (Year 4), and Alexis Purcell (Year 5) who have progressed to State Swimming to be held in Melbourne in May – Goodluck!
* It is great to see students taking pride in our school values, Respect, Excellence and Integrity. Our PBL focus for the next two weeks is Accept the consequences of my Choices. Teachers will be looking out for students who consistently make good choices both in the classroom and out in the yard.
Have a great week.
