Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge

The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now open and St Brigid’s is excited to be participating again in 2025.   The Challenge is open to all Victorian children from birth to Year 10 in recognition of the importance of reading for literacy development. It is not a competition; but a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books by 5 September 2025.

Children from Foundation to Year 2 are encouraged to read or ‘experience’ 30 books with their parents. Children from Year 3 to Year 6 are challenged to read 15 books.   Please note that a percentage of these books need to be read from the books listed on the Challenge Booklist.

All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers.

To read the Premier’s letter to parents, view the booklists and for more information about the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge, visit: Premiers' Reading Challenge | vic.gov.au

All students will be given a login and password for the challenge, however please note that this is a home challenge only and not compulsory.  It is an invitation for families that wish to participate at home.

Login details for your child will be sent home next week in their school diaries/reading records.  Please click here for the link and follow the instructions provided below.

We look forward to seeing the total number of books the students at St Brigid’s can read in this time and we will post regular updates in our school newsletter.

Happy Reading!

Suzie Ripp (Foundation - Year 2 Learning and Teaching Leader)

Cassandra Drickze (Year 3 - Year 6 Learning and Teaching Leader).

Scholastic Book Club

Thank you to all the families who purchased items from the first issue of bookclub for the year!  We certainly had a big delivery arrive last week!  With each purchase we receive school credits, which we can use on books and classroom resources. Here’s what we were able to purchase with our credit!  This week your child will bring home the second issue of bookclub (which is the final issue for term 1).

Please remember to order online or through the loop app, and please do not send cash to school.

The final day for orders to be placed is Friday 14th March.

Thank you for your support.
