As many know, I have primarily taught in Reception throughout my journey at St Paul. This year feels like coming full circle, as it has been a few years since I last taught Reception. My first class of Reception children, who started school in 2019, are now in their senior year. It’s hard to believe that the little ones who once had big buddies guiding them are now the school’s leaders, supporting our youngest children.
Seeing my current Reception children look up to their buddies with such admiration brings me immense joy. They excitedly call out “buddies” and their names whenever they pass by—even during instructional floor time! Recently, we shared a special Wondertime with the Seniors, and it was heartwarming to see their relationships continue to flourish.
This experience led me to reflect on the beauty of mentorship and guidance, which reminds me of this verse:
"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." — 1 Thessalonians 5:11
It is a blessing to witness these bonds grow, as our older children lead with kindness and our youngest ones follow with eager hearts.
