Learning and Intervention

Learning and Intervention
At Narrandera High, we are committed to ensuring every student receives the support they need to thrive in their learning journey. Below are some key initiatives currently in place to support our students in literacy, numeracy, and overall academic success.
Learning Interventions & MC Rooms
Our school provides dedicated Learning Intervention Programs to help students who require additional support in their studies. MC Rooms (Multicategorical Rooms) serve as a safe and structured space where students receive targeted assistance from our skilled educators. These rooms are designed to foster individualised learning, ensuring students can confidently engage with their coursework.
Literacy & Numeracy Programs
Developing strong literacy and numeracy skills is a priority. We have implemented specialised programs to assist students in building foundational and advanced skills:
Reading and Writing Support: Tailored interventions that enhance comprehension, fluency, and written expression.
Numeracy Boost: Small-group instruction focusing on key mathematical concepts and problem-solving strategies.
- Personalized Learning Plans (PLPs): Designed to track student progress and provide tailored support.
SLSOs Supporting in Classrooms
Our School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs) play a crucial role in assisting students with diverse learning needs. They provide in-class support, work closely with teachers to differentiate instruction, and help ensure all students can access the curriculum effectively.
HSC Minimum Standards – Stage 6 Students
For students in Stage 6 (Years 11 & 12), meeting the HSC Minimum Standards is an essential milestone. These standards assess core skills in:
Numeracy
Reading
- Writing
To support students in achieving these requirements, we offer: small tutorial programs
We encourage students to take advantage of these resources to ensure they meet the necessary criteria for their HSC qualification.
We appreciate the ongoing support from our school community in fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. If you have any questions or would like further information on these programs, please don’t hesitate to contact the school and speak with Mrs O'Mahoney.
MC Fishing Adventure
Students from the MC went fishing last week at Brewery Flat.
Thank you to the Grong Grong Anglers Club for their donation of rods, reals, lures, hooks, sinkers and a tackle box.
Blake managed to catch two fish including a cod which was returned to the river.
Thank you to Donna for cooking the BBQ and Tony for driving the bus.
