Personalised Learning Pathways

Personalised Learning Pathways

Each year at Narrandera High School we develop a Personalised Learning Pathway with all our Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students across NSW to ensure students are striving to reach their full potential and their voice is being heard.  We want to hear the voices of Aboriginal students, families and community. Through strong relationships, collaboration, and partnerships between the school, staff, students and families we will see Aboriginal students achieve their aspirations and educational potential.

Personalised Learning Pathways were a formal recommendation from the 2004 Aboriginal Education Review, in genuine partnership and collaboration with the NSW AECG.

Narrandera High School will make some slight changes to the process this year to make this a meaningful process with each student. Please see the attached sheet about the PLP process which includes;

  • Having a student meeting to talk about the process,
  • Discuss and plan with their family ,
  • Decide on a mentor,
  • Have a yarn with their mentor and complete the form,
  • Review the PLP throughout the year.

Students will meet with the Aboriginal Education Team for a brief meeting and will receive this information along with a planning sheet.  Please sit with your child and have a chat about some of the information that you can put down.  This will help each student as they meet with their mentor in the coming weeks. Once this has been done, the planning sheet can be handed to Mrs. Lucas, in the ALEC or straight to their chosen Mentor.  If your child needs another sheet, please let me know and I can get a new one sorted.

PLPs are an active and continuous process. It is highly recommended that all Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students have a PLP that is created to suit each individual student and is regularly reviewed, updated and celebrated.
