Wellbeing Report

It’s hard to believe that we are almost at the end of Term 1! As we begin to head into cooler weather please visit us at the welfare office if you would like to purchase any second hand uniform to get ahead of the seasonal change.

Below are details on family wellbeing programs that will run in Term 2, we have had students/families participate in several of these over the years and they are a wonderful resource!

Please see the links above or see the flyers attached at the end of this newsletter for more information and details on how to register.

Please feel free to speak with myself or Libby should you have any question regarding these programs.

Over the last few weeks we have again noticed an increasing number of students who are requesting additional food throughout the day. With growing minds and bodies, it’s great to encourage your child/ren to pack additional snacks for their day so that they can focus on their learning. Our community pantry is also open to anyone who would like to access it, just ask at the office and we will open it for you.

We’ll see you around the school!

Amy, Libby and Sally.

Let’s have some fun!

Having children in the house makes for a busy and sometimes stressful time. We are all tired and need a break from it all. Kids feel all the chaos as much as adults do, it is important to make time to have some fun together. Having fun with your children builds better connection. Do you have games at your house? Board games, card games and puzzles are a great tool to help parents spend time with their children in a positive way. Drawing, painting and craft are great for indoors. Go outdoors and enjoy the autumn weather by visiting the park, parents can join in by shooting some hoops, playing down ball or cricket. Visit a local pool or library. A few years ago I found a simple way to connect as a family was to make our regular weeknight meal and take it to the park. The effort of preparing a picnic was taken away but the fun of being together outside had a big impact on our wellbeing, at a busy time in our lives. We all looked forward to picnic night once a week and all we did was simply eat on a picnic blanket and when done the kids could go for a run around on the grass following. It felt like we had been on holiday, a breath of fresh air. Take time to have fun with your kids, it will do you all some good.

Breakfast Club

Jam is back! The lovely Sandy has made some Apple Jam. If you would like your child to make use of our yummy breakfast foods, send them to school that bit earlier so they will have time to eat and enjoy their food. We serve toast until 8:45 before the start of the school day. Please remind your child that if they want to have something to eat before school that they need to head straight down to the German Room. While the music for the bell is playing there are only fruit cups and milk drinks available.

Food Pantry

The food pantry is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons between 2:30 and 3:30pm. Please note the pantry will close early on Monday’s. We have a range of foods, including gluten and lactose free items and on Wednesday’s we have fresh carrots and fruit, apples, pears and oranges. If you are in need of a pantry top up please stop by and pick something up.

Kids of Gold Camp

The camp runs from Fri 16th – Sun 18th  May 2025. These camps are for building self esteem and confidence in upper primary-age children, and are continuing to prove beneficial for children in a whole range of areas, including areas of anxiety and stress.  These camps have continued on for more than 20 years since 2003 because parents and children keep asking for them, and because they are so impressed with the good changes they see in their children who just want to keep coming back!

Portsea Camp

Students from Woori Yallock Primary have previously attended the Portsea Camp, there is a new camp option available for students for the coming school holidays. The flyer is attached for those interested.
