Co-curricular - Junior Sport Stage 3

It feels like only yesterday we were completing trial lists and starting the Summer season. What a hectic time that was. After a lightning paced five weeks, we now come to the final round of Summer sport for Term 1. At the conclusion of the games this Saturday 22 March, all Summer sport will cease. There will be no further training or games for the Summer season. Summer sport recommences in Term 4 and all boys are expected to continue in their sports and teams at this time.
Best of luck to all our teams playing this weekend. Let’s finish on a polished performance, putting all that we have learnt over the season into our final game. Boys in Basketball and Touch Football are asked to hold on to their singlets for the recommencement of Summer sport in Term 4.
Winter sport trials for the Junior School will be as follows:
Monday 24 March – 3:10 PM to 4:45 PM
Monday 31 March – 3:10 PM to 4:45 PM
Football trials will be held on the back ovals, SPC 2, 3 and 4
Rugby Trials will be held on Breen Oval.
There will be no AFL trial this year. We have enough for only one team, so all boys who selected the sport are in the team. I will organise to hand out their guernseys towards the end of the term.
Boys need to be prepared for their trials. Those trialling for Rugby must bring their mouthguards, boots, and wear either the SPC Rugby training shirt (blue) or a jersey of their own. Please do not wear your PE uniform as it is likely to get torn during contact.
Boys trialing for Football must have boots, shinpads and wear their PE, colour house uniform. Boys wishing to trial as a specialist keeper need to bring their gloves.
It is expected that all boys that signed up for Winter sport are in attendance at all trials and will be placed in a team. All boys should have their SPC training shirt for the commencement of the Winter season, Week 1 Term 2. This is a compulsory item and can be purchased from the College Uniform Shop.
Over the weekend, Antonio Taouk of Year 6 Gold competed in the finals at the 2025 Muay Thai National championship. Antonio fought bravely throughout the championships and received a silver medal. He received feedback that his event was a standout junior event and because of the performance he displayed, MTA officials have selected Antonio for the Australian team for the 2025 World Championship to be held in Abu Dhabi this September. Congratulations to Antonio on this outstanding achievement. We wish him all the best in September for the World Championships.
