Congratulations to the 14 Gold Cricket Team!

A huge congratulations to the 14 Gold Cricket team for their outstanding performance in the semi-final this past weekend! Their hard work, teamwork, and determination have earned them a spot in the Grand Final this Saturday. It’s a fantastic achievement and a testament to all the effort and dedication that each player has put in. Well done to everyone involved – your commitment and passion for the game have truly shone through, and we’re all behind you as you take on the final challenge!

A Heartfelt Tribute to the Second XI

While the Second XI unfortunately didn’t take home the win in their Grand Final at Hudson Park against St Augustine’s, their effort was nothing short of inspiring. They fought hard throughout the match, displaying incredible skill and sportsmanship. Though the result was not in their favour, their performance made the College and their coach, Mr Allan, incredibly proud. It’s always tough to come so close, but I hope that you all take pride in the journey and the opportunity you had to play together as a squad one last time. The camaraderie and memories from this season will last a lifetime, and that’s something special in itself.

A Historic Win for the First XI

And now, let’s take a moment to celebrate the incredible achievement of the First XI who defeated Oakhill to claim the ISA Division 1 Premiership! It was a truly historic moment for the team, and Mr Simpson must be smiling from ear to ear after such an amazing performance. The Grand Final was an emotional rollercoaster, full of ups and downs, but the First XI kept their composure and executed when it mattered most. The energy on Breen Oval was electric, and it was fantastic to see so many supporters in the crowd, rallying behind the team. It was a day full of excitement, passion, and ultimately, triumph. This victory is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and spirit that the First XI has shown all season long. What a special day for the College and for all those who have supported the team along the way!

Basketball

Exciting ISA Grand Final Success for SPC Teams

We were incredibly fortunate to have three SPC teams competing in ISA Grand Finals this past weekend, and I am thrilled to announce that the 17 B and 17 C teams were both successful in their respective Grand Finals! Their dedication, skill, and teamwork paid off as they delivered outstanding performances on the day, bringing home well-deserved victories. Congratulations to both teams for your hard work, passion, and commitment throughout the season. You have made the College proud, and we couldn’t be more excited for your success! Special mention to the 17 Bs as for many of them, this was their second ISA Premiership in a row!

A Strong Effort from the 14C Team

While the 14 C team was unable to continue their winning streak and sadly lost their Grand Final after finishing the regular season in first place, I want to take a moment to acknowledge their incredible journey. Reaching the Grand Final is an achievement in itself, and the team showed tremendous character and determination throughout the season. While the result wasn’t what we had hoped for, their efforts and spirit have not gone unnoticed. They have done themselves, their coach Mr Fochesato, and the College proud. I hope you all reflect on the pride of making it to the big dance and the valuable experiences gained along the way.

Baseball

A Tough Day for SPC Baseball Teams, but a Season to Remember

Unfortunately, Saturday wasn’t our day for Baseball, as both the U16 and First XI teams were unable to secure victory in their Grand Finals. While the results weren’t what we had hoped for, I want to make it clear that this in no way diminishes the fantastic season that both teams had. Their hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship have been evident all season long, and they can hold their heads high knowing they gave it their all.

A special shout-out to the coaches, Mr Tabarra and Mr O’Connor, who have guided these teams with great passion and leadership. Their commitment and support have played a key role in the success of the teams. Additionally, as MIC, Mrs Warsop should be incredibly proud of how the SPC Baseball Program has developed and flourished this season. The effort and achievements of these teams are a testament to the strong foundation laid and the spirit of the sport within the College.

Touch Football

A valiant effort from our Senior and U14 A Touch teams on Saturday saw us fall short of a fairytale story in the Grand Finals.

Both teams had to do it the hard way, with our Opens team playing a semi-final against the home team Redlands and U14 A against a confident Oakhill side.

The Opens got off to a slow start but showed great resilience to claw back from two tries down to silence a boisterous home crowd and earn their spot in the final against St Augustine's Division 2 team. Meanwhile on the very next field, our 14As shocked a confident Oakhill team to dominate and play their best game of the season to run away comfortable winners in front of a vocal crowd and take their place in the final against St Augustine's Division 1 team.

Both teams had to back up after a short break to play a fresh St Augustine's side in extremely hot and dry conditions. It proved too big an ask against two classy outfits but what stood out was the SPC spirit and resilience with both teams going into halftime with a draw - a shock to the crowd and St Augustine’s team, but not to us. We knew it was going to be a challenge, but we did not shy away and continued to persevere.

While the result did not go our way, we must be very proud of how they stood up against the odds and tough conditions to represent the College Crest over their heart.
