Easter proclaims that hope is stronger than fear, joy is stronger than sorrow, light is stronger than darkness. We wish you and your loved ones a blessed, hope-filled and joyful Easter.
Christ's resurrection invites us not only to renew our faith, but to renew our commitment to one another. In this world of many different cultures, traditions and life views, may we walk together with humility and hope, trusting that the Risen Christ is at work in every sincere encounter, bringing light and life.

Stations of the Cross Liturgy
Recently, our students led a deeply moving Stations of the Cross Liturgy, thoughtfully bringing an ancient prayer tradition into conversation with the realities of today’s world. Through reverent drama, scripture, music and reflection, they invited our community to walk with Jesus from suffering to hope, connecting the story of the Cross to themes of compassion, dignity, justice and resilience. Their courage, reverence and teamwork were evident throughout, and the final focus on the Resurrection reminded us all that hope, kindness and integrity remain at the heart of who we are at St Virgil’s.
We extend our sincere thanks to Mr Bevan, Head of Creative Arts, for his guidance, creativity and support in helping students bring this powerful liturgy to life, and to our school chaplain, Fr Suresh, who led a meaningful final blessing for our school community as we prepared for the Easter break.

Project Compassion
St Virgil’s boys proudly supported the launch of this year’s Project Compassion appeal, joining with students from other Hobart schools in a collective show of solidarity. Student leaders from both Senior and Junior School represented the College with confidence and generosity of spirit, reflecting our commitment to service and justice.
Project Compassion is Caritas Australia’s annual Lenten appeal, raising vital funds and awareness for people experiencing poverty and hardship around the world.

We also thank our students for their generous commitment to Project Compassion throughout Lent. Our Senior Leaders prepared and served pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, supported enthusiastically by students and staff, creating a wonderful sense of community. We are grateful to the parents who donated pancake mix bottles, which made the event run so smoothly.
We also acknowledge Mr Waldock’s PC class, who organised an Easter Raffle and raised valuable funds for the cause. These efforts reflect the generosity, leadership and justice‑focused spirit of our students in action.

EREA Deputy Principals' Conference
Our students played a leading role in the Prayer and Acknowledgement of Country for the Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) Colleges Deputy Principals' Conference. Student leaders guided the community through prayer with confidence and reverence, setting a reflective and respectful tone for the gathering.
Students also thoughtfully led the Acknowledgement of Country, representing our First Nations students with dignity and care. Their leadership and maturity were widely appreciated and reflected the strong values of respect, community and faith that underpin life at St Virgil’s College.
