Principal's Report

Dear families,

It is with some energy and optimism that I approach the start of Term 2. The Year 9 Camp was a great success thanks to the students’ positive attitudes. Our Year 7 students attended either the Big Sister or Man Cave sessions this week which assists them in making safe and inclusive decisions as they navigate early adolescence.

I was very proud to see the number of St Brigid’s students showing their respect on ANZAC Day.

This week we held our Open Day on Wednesday and we had record numbers of families coming through the school. I thank our current families for passing around the good news story that is the St Brigid’s community. I am very proud of our school and what we can offer our students. I would like to thank all staff and students for their efforts, with particular honours to Malory Ryan for coordinating the event. Due to excess numbers, we are holding another information evening this coming Monday at 6pm.

On Tuesday, five of our Year 9 students, together with Fiona Combe, attended the Student Agency Forum that have commenced across our Diocese, bringing students together to share what matters most in their learning and school experience, and to explore the question: What makes a great school for all? Delivered in collaboration with Dr Jean Stiles, the forums use a learn, share, do approach, with students from over 14 schools, engaging in hands-on activities, reflecting on their experiences, and taking ideas back to their schools to put into action. This is another way we seek to engage our students.

Another reminder that Mother's Day is fast approaching, and we look forward to welcoming those who will be attending our annual Mother's Day breakfast on Friday 8 May. This is a way that we can show our appreciation for all of the positive female role models for our students. Please see further details on how to register in today’s newsletter.

Finally, I would ask parents and families to assist us in encouraging their son or daughter to use the front office to contact home if they need to be picked up during the day, rather than texting their parents directly. Our front office has protocols that must be followed to ensure that we are compliant with Child Safe requirements. Students should ask the office to contact parents during the day, so that the necessary recording of incidents and illness can occur.

Stay safe,
