It’s been a fun fortnight in Indonesian class! From animal sounds to transport adventures, there’s been plenty of fun and learning happening across all year levels.
Prep students have been learning about farm animals and the fun sounds they make, as well as enjoying two stories in Indonesian — "Where is the Green Sheep?" and "Where is the Green Gecko?".
Years 1 and 2 have been exploring clothing, learning to identify everyday items, and taking part in cooperative games and activities. They’ve also discovered some of the beautiful traditional clothing from across Indonesia’s many provinces.
Years 3 and 4 have been learning about transport — both modern and traditional — and how it can differ depending on where you are in Indonesia. They’ve also been working together to create a class book, describing how they travel to school using different types of transport throughout the week.
Years 5 and 6 have been studying Indonesia’s environments, discovering where different geographical features can be found. They’ve created sentences about going on holidays, describing landscapes, and weather using their growing Indonesian vocabulary.

This term in Performing Arts, all students from Prep to Year 6 have been exploring how to play the ukulele!
Our Prep to Year 2 students have been discovering what makes the ukulele special — learning to name its parts, hold it correctly, and keep a steady beat while strumming open strings. They’ve enjoyed playing simple rhythm patterns, echoing the teacher, and experimenting with different sounds the ukulele can make.
Students in Years 3–6 have been developing their musical skills further by learning the names and numbers of the strings, practising strumming in rhythm, and performing short patterns together as a group. They’ve also begun to create and perform their own rhythmic strumming sequences, showing great creativity and growing confidence as musicians.
We look forward to continuing our learning journey as the term progresses!

Years 1 and 2
This term, Year 1 and 2 students had the chance to venture out and enjoy the beautiful sunshine on the oval. The main focus of our lessons was to practise the fundamental motor skills of throwing, catching, rolling, and striking. This week we worked on achieving the correct technique for tee ball batting, and I had the pleasure of witnessing some outstanding hits.
Years 5 and 6
Year 5 and 6 students have also been working on tee ball. They have practised refining fielding and batting skills and applying them to game situations. The use of gloves on their non-dominant hand was foreign to many students, but they have shown considerable improvement in their glovework, with some terrific catches being taken.
Division and Regional Athletics Results
Congratulations to the following students who competed at the Maroondah and Manningham Division Athletics Championships on Thursday, 9th of October. They competed against the best students from approximately 50 schools. They should all be commended on their commitment to training, the manner in which they strived to achieve personal bests in their respective events, and the outstanding manner in which they represented our school.
The following students participated:
Jeremy F - 100m
Oliver D - Long Jump
Zoe R - High Jump
Cruze F - High Jump
Noah F - Shot Put and Discus
Jordan V - Hurdles
Maddie H - Triple Jump
Patch E - Triple Jump
Jade L - Discus
Cruze F came 2nd in the High Jump and Noah F won both the Shot Put and Discus events. As a result, they progressed through to the Regional Carnival, which was conducted last Thursday, where both boys put in exceptional efforts against the best athletes from across the region.
I would also like to congratulate Lanni A, one of last year's students who recently broke the Eastern Region High Jump record. She jumped 1.58m.

Sound and creativity came alive! Prepmade shakers and rain sticks, amd Year 1 and Year 2s built instruments to explore pitch and volume.
Year 3/4s explored how water and heat move through our world by creating mixed-media water cycle posters, testing heat transfer in hands-on experiments, and expressing energy through vibrant, warm, and cool colour artworks.
Year 5/6s investigated vibrations and the impact sound has on the environment. Students also experimented with recyclables to make art or scientific models on their chosen organism.
Our classroom was noisy, colourful, and very inventive!
