It’s been a wonderful couple of weeks at Yarra Road Primary School, filled with teamwork, achievement, and plenty of school spirit. A huge congratulations to all of our students who recently represented our school in Hooptime. They demonstrated fantastic sportsmanship and determination, we are so proud of the way they played and supported their teammates. A special mention goes to our Year 3/4 Girls team, who have progressed through to the State Finals!
We’d like to gently remind everyone to take extra care during drop off and pick up times to help keep our students and community members safe.
Please try to avoid stopping or parking over the ‘Keep Clear’ area at the front of the school, as this space is where many of our students and families cross each day. Keeping this area clear helps everyone move safely and smoothly.
We also ask that families don’t wait in the slip lane, as this can block traffic turning into Yarra Road and restrict access to the school. It’s important that this area remains clear so that emergency vehicles can access the school grounds quickly if ever needed. If possible, please consider using nearby side streets and walking a short distance. The car parks to the left of the main gate are available for disabled access, so we ask that these spaces remain free for those who need them.
Finally, please take note of the parking signs around the school. These are managed by the local council, and we appreciate your care in following the guidelines. Thank you for your understanding and support in helping us keep our school environment safe, accessible, and welcoming for all members of our community.
As we begin planning for the 2026 school year, it’s important that we have the most accurate possible understanding of our student numbers. This helps us to plan class structures, allocate staff, and ensure smooth transitions for all students.
If your family is aware that your child will not be returning to Yarra Road Primary School in 2026, we would appreciate it if you could let the office know as soon as possible. Early notification allows us to finalise staffing and class arrangements and to offer positions to new families currently on our enrolment list.
If your child has special circumstances, such as health, learning, social, or family considerations, please let us know. Requests for a specific teacher cannot be accommodated.
Please email yarra.road.ps@education.vic.gov.au. We will reply to your email to acknowledge that we have received it. If you do not receive a reply within 3 business days, please call the office. All requests need to be received by Friday 10th November. We regret that any requests given after this date will not be considered.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to create supportive classes for all students in 2026.
Just a reminder that we have the Parent Association Disco tomorrow. Please see the below information about the dress code for the event.
Dress Code
Students are welcome to come dressed in either a Halloween costume or a disco-themed outfit – whichever they prefer! To ensure that the event is enjoyable and comfortable for all students – including our younger children – we kindly ask for your support in following a few simple guidelines when choosing costumes:
Parents are not expected to buy a costume; your child may come dressed in disco-wear or bright colours.
Please avoid scary or horror-themed costumes, including masks, fake blood or makeup that may frighten younger children.
No weapons or weapon-like accessories are permitted, this includes toy knives, swords, or any sharp objects.
Costumes should be age-appropriate, safe to move around in, allow a hat to be worn, and sun smart.
If face paint or masks are part of the costume, make sure your child can still be easily recognised and can see and breathe comfortably.
Fully enclosed shoes are worn.
No inflatable costumes.
We can’t wait to see everyone’s costumes and dance moves at this fun-filled event!

This term the Junior School Council (JSC) will be once again fundraising for the Salvation Army. Therefore we are accepting the following:
Non - perishable foods.
New toys.
Monetary donations.
This is a wonderful opportunity to support families in need this Christmas.
Thank you from the Junior School Council.
Last week the weather was perfect for gardening and weeding the vegie patch. Students harvested a big bucket of potatoes and our kale is also ready to harvest. Students also planted some tomato seedlings and were very excited to plant our 4 passionfruit vines, which in time will climb and grow around our beautiful arbours and will be a real feature of our vegie patch. We hope to select some students to cook and sample some of our vegetables soon as part of our ‘EACH Community Grant’ project. It has been fantastic to network with other local schools, share ideas, and see other vegetable gardens in action. For our final meeting, Jodie Ross will be visiting Bayswater North Primary School and learning about their Kitchen Garden Program.
If you have any unused State Schools' Relief (SSR) vouchers, please take them directly to Spartan School World to use to purchase uniform.
If your voucher/s have expired, please contact the school office to have them re-issued.
