GRADE 3 AND FOUR

In Term 4, all students investigated a range of visual storyboards and online games as part of the Digital Technologies Unit. They identified the common features of both online and offline games. Firstly, they created a visual board (maze) to show the directions such as, left, right, up and down commands to show each step. Secondly, they developed a simple game called “Find a Bug” to describe and represent algorithms involving sequencing, branching and iteration within the Scratch Jr program.  As part of their assessment, students created their own game on Scratch Jr. to demonstrate their understanding and knowledge of digital systems.

GRADE FIVE AND SIX

In Term 4, all students explored a variety of both online and offline games and analysed why they are so popular in our society.  They created digital solutions to a problem by using the visual programming language using Scratch and Minecraft Education programs. They developed simple to complex games to describe and utilised algorithms involving sequencing, branching and iteration within Scratch and Minecraft programs. As part of their assessment, students implemented computational thinking to create multi- step coding solutions to design their own game.
