WELCOME BACK TO P.E IN TERM 4
Our P–2 students have been having a fantastic time participating in our Dodge unit during Physical Education. Throughout the unit, students have been developing a range of important movement and teamwork skills. They have been learning how to dodge, weave, and change direction quickly to avoid being tagged. In addition to building their coordination and agility, students have been focusing on fair play, cooperation, and encouraging one another during games. It’s been wonderful to see their confidence grow each week as they put these skills into action while having fun and staying active!
Our Years 3–6 students have been developing their precision and strategy through our Target Games unit in Physical Education. Students have been practising a variety of skills, including aiming, controlling force, and adjusting technique to improve accuracy when striking or throwing at a target. They then applied these skills in small strategy games, where they needed to plan their shots carefully and think tactically to outscore their opponents or achieve team goals. Games such as bowling and beanbag toss have helped them refine their hand–eye coordination, decision-making, and teamwork. Alongside these physical skills, students have been learning the importance of focus, patience, and sportsmanship. It’s been wonderful to see them challenge themselves, use strategy, and celebrate their improvements throughout the unit!
A Week of Fun with the AFL Coaches!
Our students had an exciting week of action and learning with the visiting AFL coaches! Throughout the week, students took part in a range of fun drills and games designed to develop key AFL skills such as handballing, kicking, marking, and teamwork. The coaches created an energetic and supportive environment where everyone could get involved, build confidence, and enjoy being active. Students especially loved putting their new skills to the test in mini-games that encouraged fair play and strategy. We’re thrilled that the fun doesn’t stop there — the AFL coaches will be running an after-school program from the 10th of November for four weeks, giving students the chance to keep developing their skills and continue enjoying the game in a friendly and inclusive setting. See the below flyer for more information.
